Are the play-offs that unrealistic ?

Sat Feb 21, 2015 7:07 am

Looking at the table there are still around 40 points to play for. Without getting carried away too much with trollopes added stabilisation and drive after just one game, if we could could get 3 pts today and Wigan Tuesday it could be a starting point of our season from here. 2 wins would hopefully bring back positivity and bigger numbers for wolves next week at home and kick on from there. Anyone share this thought ? :bluescarf:

Russel does. My heart does. My head doesn't.
Two wins and lets talk again! :bluescarf:

Your right, only wins will tell where we're going this season. I think the next two games will define languishing in the bottom half or real possibility of doing something. The next 2 games are very winnable. We'll see what comes at 5 pm!

We should be able to grind a win out today and at Wigan, then who knows? But I have little faith in RUSSELL.

Neither do I but Trollope has given me new optimism, in fairness to slade who I personally don't want, he has been given a very lack lustre backroom staff. Who knows with more professional support, he may be able to focus on what he does best rather than try to do it all. The two may work well together.

To reach the playoffs we will have to do something that NO other club has done since the playoffs were introduced 28 years ago, so that single stat sort of sums up our chances in my opinion. Even Blackpool who made the playoffs back in the 2009/10 season were 4 points ahead of us after 31 games and qualified with 70 points in 6th place, a record low points total to reach the playoffs.

For us to reach 70 points we will need to win 11 of our remaining 15 games and then we have to hope that 70 points will be enough. In an average season you would need 75 points to reach the playoffs so in that respect we would need to win 13 of our 15 games.

Just cannot see it which is why most fans are realistic about where we are and that is looking to reach 46 points as quickly as possible, as that looks the total which will most likely see us safe for another season in the Championship. We currently have a 29% win average and if we maintain that we should reach 49 points.

That's a very very long way off the playoffs.

The last 2months have lost it!

Let's be fair we would have to go on a really really really good run ! Which somehow I don't even think that will Happen

Then other teams would have to do what we've done in the past and bottle it! But I think the teams up there now won't slip up!

I'd love to get in there but somehow I thinks it's gone now
Hope I'm wrong and things go our way

But when do we do it the easy way ? Hardly

Records are there to be broken.... Be interesting to see how far we get with a couple of wins until mathematically impossible. We can still do it! :ayatollah:

Yes Trollope will be a big help,Young and Gabbidon are not needed.

Slade would of been better off being Trollopes number 2 at best :thumbright:

Can't fault some people's optimism on here, but the play offs are as likely as me looking in the mirror and not seeing an ugly fat tw*t staring back at me. Success for me would simply to still be playing championship football next season, which I think we will just about achieve.

Not going to happen but football is a fine line? If we had played even half as good in our previous two games before Blackburn we would have had 7points 9 if noone hadnt balls it up for their goal! :o different ball game then.

Most teams can say what if, and Blackburn can also say what if that shot had not been cleared off the line. The bottom line is we have put in one reasonable performance in the last dozen games, and even then we didn't create many clear goal scoring opportunities. Will be interesting to see if that was a one off or whether we are actually about to show an improvement. We will have a better idea after the next 2 or 3 games, and perhaps Trollope will have a positive impact.

I try to be positive but based on current form would you put money on it? Even if we did an unprecedented U turn in form its still a mountain to climb! :(
