' Vince Alm hits out against local media '
Time to defend our club a negative local media that is uncalled for!
Don't mind the match reports saying it as it is, but to have campaigns about which player and manager should go or stay is counter productive and splits the fans.
The recent survey carried out by a local media company was a load of rubbish anyway you could have voted as many times as you wanted so it was flawed!
Things are tough at the moment and it takes people who are willing to fight together and tough it out.
Peter Whittingham may not be producing the form he has shown in the past but he is by far our best player in the squad as Tuesday night proved once again. The player is a legend and doesn't deserve the abuse and vitriol he is receiving both from fans and media alike.
To question players, managers, coaches when they have only been here 5 minutes is disgusting. To publicly try and provoke them into reactions and question there ability when they haven't had a chance to prove themselves is also wrong.
Those of us who are still there giving it our all; time to come together to wash away this air of negativity and fight as one against it. Join me and thousands of other Loyal Cardiff supporters as one team where they can stick their surveys where the sun don't shine and support our local club, with that siege mentality us against the world!

I'm 100% with him on this. Of course, it won't be a popular view on this board. Neither does it sell newspapers.
Fri Feb 20, 2015 9:19 pm
Agree with him ,don't it will go down on here as some just love to moan
Fri Feb 20, 2015 9:39 pm
I totally agree with Vince Alm, we should all support the team even through tough times,it does the team no good at all if there is a negative atmosphere in the stadium.
We have to give Russell Slade until the end of the season at least because there is no point in getting a new manager in who is stuck with the current playing squad.
There were signs of improvement against Blackburn and the fans have to fully support the players and give them every encouragement, it cannot be helpful to the players on the pitch if they are booed for a bad pass or mistake.
The more support we give them the better they will respond it is human nature.

I was thinking exactly the same. What a squalid organization is Media Wales.

Vince is right ,enough is enough, either we stand together as fans or we allow the club to slowly but surely implode and before we know it we will be averaging less than 4,000 again, a figure that was common in the nineties....
We are where we are now and all we can do as fans is support the team as best we can....if you can get a season ticket ,great if not just try to attend as many games as you can....every supporter counts and it's our club to look after while we can...it's easy to knock the club and many have good cause with the rebrand but how long can we keep dwelling on what has happened to us?
Hopefully the football will improve and we all start enjoying the games again but whatever happens we all all Cardiff City fans and we have been through rougher times than these...come on city two huge games coming up but whatever happens we can't change teams we are City for life so we might as well be positive.

Keep watching the quality of football we have been subjected to and our crowds will be 4,000!

Agree about Whitts being a legend full stop.
Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:07 pm
Playing devils advocate here....
Is the paper just saying what we are saying on here all the time though ?

Thankyou Captain lightweight, we've got a fantastic stadium, fantastic training facilities, an owner who's has put in £170 million, the best squad in the division and for the past 20 matches had to endure our club playing some of the worst football seen for many a year. So instead of patronising put downs, wake up, shut up and start earning the true fans respect.
Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:19 pm
Vince is spot on. Agree with him 100%.

Totally agree Corky, we can all constructively critisise the club, but let's get things in perspective, we are loyal Cardiff fans, who support Cardiff whatever, it's time for everyone to stop being so cynical over every little thing they don't agree on and start getting behind the team

Whitts is a legend and his set piece set up yet another goal. However, Whitts then put in a pathetic challenge allowing their player to walk through him in the build up to their equaliser. If we could build a team around Whitts so Whitts could have the ball in offensive positions and not be required to do any defensive work, similar to Taarabt at QPR that one season, then we will see the best of him.

a good journalist asks difficult questions. The only one who has done that is Chris Waltham when he asked Slade what has he achieved in 2 months being here. Steve Tucker is an amazing man, makes anything possible if he can become a sports journalist
Fri Feb 20, 2015 10:55 pm
Think I'm missing something, but better agree I suppose. Ok then, we are playing brilliant football, we are not 7 points above the relegation places, Whittingham is looking world class, Slade has turned this team around and we are much higher now than when he arrived, and promotion is looking likely. The press are saying something completely different, so are they wrong or does the truth hurt?
Fri Feb 20, 2015 11:42 pm
I cant agree with all this. Its the media's duty to probe difficult circumstances. Why are we all so squeamish? You may agree or disagree with the media but please dont knock their probes otherwise all well have is banal platitudes.

Vince is spot on. Wales Off-Line/Western Snail/Media-Ocre Wales is a Trinity Mirror outfit so you can expect standards to be very low. Cheapo parochial copy'n'paste 'journos' who are just happy having a title that says 'Reporter' or 'Journalist' and happy earning shit money and having a shit career as they have zero ability or ambition. The clowns just run with the fox, never (or rarely) a well researched and informed decision themselves across every single subject they claim to cover. No wonder their-fucked. Right, off to bed now as off to Huddersfield tomorrow to support the boys.
Fri Feb 20, 2015 11:50 pm
Fans are entitled to an opinion. Media are saying what the fans think and it boils down to Slade who isn't good enough which we know unless we are pretending he needs more time to prove he is a loser.
Sat Feb 21, 2015 12:05 am
Have to agree...
Witts gets hit again it happened in the prem last season he is undoubtedly our most loyal player and fans continue to mock him.. disgrace !
As for questioning the ability of a manager then sorry but he's in the wrong job if he thinks fans will not question losses.. but I do believe we need to give him more time now we have troll there who is a seasoned recognised coach.
Sat Feb 21, 2015 1:50 am
Yeah, our team is f*cking ace and Slade is a legend.
Sat Feb 21, 2015 6:51 am
Give us our Grange End back and we will turn our Stadium into a home fortress. The atmosphere will be amazing.

There is no reason why this cannot be done and I urge the Club to get this in place for next season this would get our fans flocking back !

What just because he's been here long he deserves special treatment and we should ignore his poor games?
I'm sure people haven't forgot what he's done over his time !
Once was a great player for us No ones doubting that
But IMO he has lost it and shouldn't play as much as he does
I'm fed up of people sticking up for him just because he's been here long!
Sat Feb 21, 2015 8:35 am
I agree with vince, everyone should be behind the club at this sticky patch time
Sat Feb 21, 2015 8:56 am
Don't agree at all! Weren't The Echo criticised for not bring more vocal against the rebrand? It's not their job to be club cheerleaders, and the state of the team/club has been so desperate these questions needed answering! Plus, it's no surprise that immediately after this poll, which must have ruffled some feathers, the team put in their best performance in months!
Sat Feb 21, 2015 9:28 am
So we are not allowed to say that a player is continually underperforming just because he has been here for a long time. If I think someone is playing bad I will say it. If the team are playing terrible football I am hardly likely to say I am pleased with performances. If I think the manager is not up to it I will say it. I am just expressing my opinion which may be wrong, but reading and listening to many fans I know I am not the only one who holds these opinions.
If the team starts performing, and Whittingham puts in some good performances I will be more than happy to write positive comments in my posts. We don't need the press to tell us that we are playing awful football, and that Whittingham is going through a bad period, we can see it for ourselves, but I don't think they are far wrong in what they are saying.

Totally agree! Whats with all this worshipping and molycoddling if professional sportsmen on stellar salaries? Utter nonsense! All this "legend" drivel gets right up my nose. If players perform well then thats great, if not ship them out! Were fans of a football club not a charity home. And with regard to the media dont shoot the messenger. The worse thing would be for the media to just write patronising rubbish for fear of upsetting the supporters feelings about their "idols" This reminds me of the Charlie Hebdo situation!
