Cardiff City defender Sean Morrison relishing return to Huddersfield Town this weekend

The Bluebirds stopper knows the Terriers well after a successful loan spell in 2012, when Town were promoted to the second tier

Sean Morrison is back at Huddersfield Town this weekend for the first time since returning in triumph from a play-off final victory at Wembley Stadium.

Centre-half Morrison was on loan from Reading and helped the Terriers to victory against Sheffield United in front of more than 52,000 spectators at the League One final.

He was the last outfield player to take a spot-kick in the penalty shootout after a goalless draw before goalkeeper Alex Smithies scored to put Town 8-7 in front and then saved from Blades’ keeper Steven Simonsen to clinch a momentous victory.

It was the third successive season Morrison had played at Wembley, having lost with Reading and Swindon Town in finals, and it was the biggest day of his career up to that point.

“It’s the first time I’ve been back to Huddersfield,” Morrison said.

“I was there for six months and it will be good to go back and see some faces.

“Alex is still there from my time and Oscar Gobern, but so much has changed I can’t think of anybody else.

“I enjoyed my time there and we had success, but my focus now is on making sure I am spot on for Cardiff City. We must be ready to go because Huddersfield are a good team and around the same position as us.

“We have to stay tight and be focused on the challenge.”
