I think it was more a case of OGS wanting to get rid, & look how many of his own (OGS) players have now left, not to mention the few who have hardly played this season.

I was chatting to Ole, and he said to me all I can say is Hudson and some of the others were out of my hands.
Hudson behind the scenes was close to Malky and was like his Capt in the camp.

That's interesting Annis. The VT- Malky vendetta that prevailed to the point of self harm to our club, & ultimate destruction,,,both on & off the field.

My take is that if we were going to get rid of Huds then we needed to ensure we brought in a player with the same leadership qualities to replace him. Appears that we havn't done that.

He wasn't the most technically gifted centre back around but what he lacked in natural ability he made up for by contributing to the team effort with leadership, organisational, and motivational skills.

He was an ageing player who was replaced by two younger, hungrier and better centre backs .
The mistake wasn't letting him leave the mistake was/is the managers not replacing his leadership with a strong character in the middle of the park and making a goalkeeper captain .

MARK HUDSON SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN GIVEN AWAY

His Cardiff City departure never courted the controversy that of John Toshack’s did, anger the fans in the manner of the sudden loss of Rob Earnshaw or Danny Gabbidon, nor have supporters questioning the size of the fee as was the case with Aaron Ramsey.
But Bluebirds followers will be hoping the loss of Premier League promotion-winning squad skipper Mark Hudson doesn’t come back to bite the team this weekend.
Hudson never wanted to leave south Wales and the Bluebirds have learned to regret their decision to let him join Huddersfield Town.
This Saturday, at the John Smith’s Stadium, Hudson will skipper Huddersfield out against his former club in what is a crucial match for the two teams.
He is captain at the Yorkshire club, just as he was at Charlton, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City.
Cardiff City players fans were sad to see him leave
And while manager Russell Slade’s team badly need leaders, men who can gather team-mates around them and help the club drive forward, they will see the figurehead who could have done that for them this season lining up instead in the colours of the opposition.
Hudson is an ideal man in that leadership role. Cardiff should have kept him and it’s difficult to fathom exactly why they let him to move on for a ‘nominal fee’ last September.
He isn’t the best centre-half in Championship football, but Hudson is a tough, uncompromising defender who was popular in and around the Bluebirds with team-mates, staff and fans.
The 32-year-old left South Wales after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paid a reported £10m for Sean Morrison and Bruno Manga. His departure ended a five-year association with the club.
Hudson achieved cult status with fans after Cardiff swept into the Premier League and says: “I will never forget that. I still can’t put the pride and joy into words and I will think about it always.”
Hudson, though, was told City didn’t need him any more just three days before the transfer window closed.
He moved on to Huddersfield, saying: “I’m sad to leave Cardiff. . I have great memories.

“Over the previous summer I had been told my future was at Cardiff, I was captain and that was the way it would be. Then, the day before we played Fulham, I was informed I wasn’t needed and had to find another club.
“It was hard in a way because clubs who had expressed an interest in me through the summer had been sent away and told I wasn’t for sale.
“But I also half expected it, I wasn’t so surprised. You don’t spend £10m on two central defenders for nothing so I suspected it.”
The fact is that he has gone and this weekend Hudson and goalkeeper David Marshall, big pals during their time playing together, will lead their respective teams out.
It will make a change from the many, many times they were first and second in line during the Bluebirds’ better days.
