Cardiff City boss Russell Slade says Bluebirds' pace, energy and power is finally developing.
Under-fire Bluebirds boss Russell Slade admitted he won't dare to think his side have turned a corner, despite a vastly better showing against Blackburn Rovers
Cardiff City's search for a win goes on – but the Bluebirds showed they may not have to wait much longer after a vastly improved performance was denied victory at the death by Blackburn Rovers.
Yet under-fire Bluebirds boss Russell Slade admitted he won't dare to think his side have turned a corner, despite hailing the slow progress made by his side and claiming there are finally signs of the side he wants to build.
Cardiff were frustrated by old boy Rudy Gestede in the 90th minute after new boy Matty Kennedy helped inspire a far better performance from the hosts, Sean Morrison having thought he'd handed the team a first win in seven with a thumping header six minutes from time.
But Slade was wary about getting carried away after the third successive draw keeps them too close to comfort to the Championship drop zone ahead of back-to-back away games at Huddersfield and Wigan.
Slade – who did not have to endure now familiar jeers at the final whistle – said:“I saw some improvement again in the performance.
“We had good periods of control and when we got that goal in the 84th minute we thought it might be enough.
“But the only time we didn't defend as well as we ought to have done was when they scored because he went past two players and we had the opportunity to clear the ball and not done so.
“That's a disappointment but there were lots of positives and encouraging signs.
“When I came in I said we needed more pace, energy and power, and I see it developing. Albeit it you might think painfully slowly – and you could be right – but I do see it coming. And that's my stamp on the side, that's what I asked for and told you what I was looking for.
But as he still faces pressure to get back to winning ways after still only managing 12 points from the last 12 games, he warned:
“I'm not silly enough to think we've turned a corner after one performance. There's a little bit of improvement - I don't think there's bundles of it - and I'm not going to get carried away, but I have seen what we're trying to do is slowly getting better.
“The points we've got of late have not been enough and it's frustrating – but if you try to keep improving and playing with the kind of desire and belief, if we carry that on we will get the results.
“If the attitude is right to get the performance sooner or later you will get results.”

Russell Slade rues defensive lapse in Blackburn draw
Cardiff City manager Russell Slade lamented a defensive lapse after ex-Bluebird Rudy Gestede denied them a Championship win over Blackburn.
Sean Morrison's header put Cardiff 1-0 up, but Gestede did as Slade had feared to equalise late on in Cardiff.
"That was a much better performance," said "frustrated" Slade.
"There are signs of improvement and the pity is we were punished on the only occasion where we did not defend properly."
Cardiff climbed two spots to 15th as Slade had new head coach Paul Trollope in his dug-out for the first time since the new appointment.
They had hoped to shock promotion hopefuls Rovers, who beat the Premier League's Stoke City 4-1 in the FA Cup at the weekend.
Slade added: "We had much more energy and we really pressed the ball well and that is more in line with what I want to see from my team and what I have been saying I want to see.
"But that is not the end of it.
"There is still an awful lot of work to do and we still have a lot to get through between now and the next transfer window.
"They came in here very confident after their performance against Stoke at the weekend and we dealt with them very well."

Former Reading FC manager Nigel Adkins has been spotted at a number of Championship games recently, fuelling speculation he could be eyeing up a return to management.
Adkins, who was dismissed by Royals in December, was at Cardiff City's 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night, and also attended Fulham's 2-1 defeat by Ipswich Town on Saturday.
