' What do you want to see improve? '

Russell Slade
We want to create more opportunities.

It was a little bit of a game of chess against Brighton, we tried to play with more intent second period, but we want to create more.

' Craig Conway and Rudy Gestede return to Cardiff – what are you expecting from them? '

Russell Slade
They will be fired up I’m sure, if selected.

Ex-players going back to former clubs always want to do well.

Rudy Gestede and Craig ConwayRudy

Gestede was let go by Cardiff but now he's linked with the Premier League. What do you make of his progress?
He has been on the scoresheet a lot and the move seems to have worked for him.

That can happen with front men. Sometimes a move brings out the best in them.

Forwards do have history of going to another club and being excellent.

' What are you expecting from Blackburn Rovers? '

Russell Slade
They had a terrific result against Stoke.

It was great for Josh King, who scored a hat-trick.

Blackburn Rovers celebrate their epic FA Cup win against StokeBlackburn Rovers celebrate their epic FA Cup win against Stoke
I know Gary Bowyer and his team will be strong and physical, They have goal threats, whoever plays.

They come confidently, they won their previous league game 2-1.

They have had an up and down season, but they are on a little bit of momentum, that was terrific win and it will be tough game.

' Has Paul Trollope started work yet? '

Russell Slade
His first session was yesterday. We have restructured, Kevin Nicholson has gone to the under-21 team and Trolls adds experience to the first team.

His main area is coaching and will work closely with James Rowberry.

It was my decision to bring Trolls in, I’ve known him a long time, we’ve had many battles with each other football wise.

Paul has worked in the Championship and Premier League with Norwich.

He is well respected as a coach and our chemistry as a group is enhanced with his presence.

It’s not an extra voice because Kevin Nicholson taken over the under-21 team.

His arrival, his presence moves us forward, makes us better and stronger.

We need a lift at the moment and the quicker we get win quicker we look forward to games coming up.

' Injury News '

Russell Slade
We have one or two doubts.

A couple of players picked up minor injuries in training over the last few days, but overall we are okay.

Federico Macheda is making progress, while there is a slight injury problem over Fabio.

Fabio wins a header for Cardiff City
He picked up a calf injury in training. We may have to have go to the wire with that one.

There is nothing serious apart from long-term injuries. We trained Saturday and Sunday.

' When will Joe Mason and Kagisho Dikgacoi return? '

Russell Slade
Joe could be back in mid-March.

We are happy with his progress (from a hamstring injury), but I can’t see him kicking a ball in anger before then.

Kagisho is also making progress and running now.

He needs a mini pre-season and it will be another three weeks before he can do that.

If we can get him into a situation where he is ready to play he will inevitably be involved at development level for a couple of games, but maybe he could go out on loan and continue his progress.

That would be ideal, but there is still a bit for him to do.

It’s about next season and he will need the big pre-season this summer.

He won’t have an off-season because he has been out for just about a year.

' What do you think about Adam le Fondre getting among the goals for Bolton? '
Le Fondre has scored 2 goals in 2 games for Bolton

Russell Slade replies

I'm really pleased for him.
Adam is our player and he has gone out on loan to regain form.

' Why does midfield seem such a difficult area for the team? '

Russell Slade
Central midfield is probably the most difficult area of the pitch to nail down.

' Why are Whittingham and Gunnarsson struggling? '

Russell Slade
We know what Whittingham brings to the table.

By his own admission he hasn't been in the greatest form but he is a quality player.

The combination with Gunnarsson should be good because Gunnar breaks up play so well and Whitts should be able to get on the ball.

It ought to be a good combination.

When I first arrived they both played in the early wins and successes.

To say they weren't in good form then would be wrong.

At this moment in time you could argue it probably hasn’t been working quite as well.

Having said that we have played with three in there at times.

It is a headache trying to get the balance right.

' Is Danny Gabbidon leaving? '

Russell Slade
He is not fit after a minor injury and played for Chicago Fire against QPR in a friendly.

He is out of contract this summer but it’s possible he could leave Cardiff early if that’s the road he wants to go down.

He acknowledges that Whittingham is not on form, but picks him every week anyway. Surely you pick your players on ability and current form, not past reputation.

Why is Le Fondre scoring at Bolton but looked as blunt as a bread knife for us Allan? Surely it's the manager's job to gel the team, and play to everyone's strengths. Neil Lennon is already showing him up

Thomas, very worrying.

He shouldn't need coaching to put the ball in the back of the net given his age and experience, as he was a prolific goalscorer before he came to us!

You could argue that he was possibly played in the wrong position for us, with him having to play behind a bigger man, but he was given a very long run in the team, something which the likes of Maynard were never given and he missed a load of easy chances by his previous standards!

The first of his 2 goals at Bolton btw, was a 20 odd yarder into an unguarded net and his second on Saturday, was a regulation tap in for a striker of his previous pedigree, unfortunately, he was missing these type of tap in chances for us!

Gunnarsson breaks up play well, no disputing that... referee constantly having to stop the game to award a foul against him!

I'm all for independent thought, but you seem to frequently go against the grain in relation to the majority opinion. Slade doesn't need tan to get people posting about how useless he is. Do you think if tan was popular, we wold all be praising Slade for doing a good job ?

' When will we next see Anthony Pilkington? '

Slade

It will be two weeks before he starts training again.

His setback was devastating, but it’s one of those things.

He was running really well alongside the first team squad when he slipped.

He was asked the burning question about the midfield problem but he had no answer apart from a couple of banal comments about Whittingham and ...."it is a headache trying to get the problem right" Is this why he needs "Trolls" to help him out?
