First big game of the season?

Sat Feb 14, 2015 9:51 pm

Tuesday night against Blackburn is, I think, going to be a huge indicator of how we are going to finish this season. It will show if we really are capable of playing against a team full of confidence and form. The fans on Tuesday really need to get behind the team. Considering that the table isn't really worth looking at until christmas, this is arguably the first game that is truly big in terms of the result all season. To stand any chance we really need to create an atmosphere! for the 5 minutes against brighton that there was half of an atmosphere, the players who were on the whole dire, showed some passion. The fans need to do everything they can! 1 league win in 10 and that one win was against fulham on our return to blue! need to start supporting the team rather than putting Slade under pressure because if Tan is going to sack Slade i think we all know that it is when he feels is ready! :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I do agree that we need to create an atmosphere but lets face it the majority of the fans who are going now are ones that would be capable of doing so as they are committed to the cause and would love something to sing and cheer about. It is very difficult to create any atmosphere with the football we played last Tuesday. I think even the most passionate of fan would be scraping the barrel to find something to get excited about. It works both ways and if we get effort and passion on the pitch you will get it in the stands now especially being back in blue.

Agreed.

Nothing on the pitch to get excited about.
Dire boring football.

Have said this on another post, the fans that are committed to watching that dross on a Tuesday night in such poor form are the fans who aren't in it just to watch football, I have no doubt an atmosphere will be created Tuesday night as was last week in the second half. We do however need some football as you have said. :bluescarf:

Believe me if we go 1 or 2 down early on - there will be an atmosphere but not one that you want!

A crunching tackle, a scything run through the middle or down the wing, a fierce shot skimming the bar or heaven forbid an actual goal.
Any or all of these things can and do get the fans on their toes and cheering, if the players can show some of this more than just once in a game there will be an atmosphere, maybe the players can feed off this atmosphere then and go on to give us some entertainment.
I actually go to games now expecting to see boring shite with not much effort from our players.
One of the problems is a mistake by one of the players and the expectations from the fans is "here we go again", then the barracking starts that leads to lack of confidence from the players, their game deteriorates and the booing starts.
The cycle needs to be broken by the players then us fans.
