Kill someone on the road no problem, throw a fag end on the road and get an instant fine. Strange country we live in.

She was using the phone but on hands free, she said she pulled over to ring her grandparents and put them on the speakerphone and carried on driving.

Very sad that an elderly couple were killed nonetheless.

Actually the family said how could it be a just verdict and they were shocked that she was found not guilty you probably watched the girls family saying it was a just verdict

I was totally gob smacked when I heard that a jury of 12 people had found her "Not guilty"

Whether on hands free or not when you drive you should have 100% concentration.

she said "then came out of nowhere" - a couple both 86yrs old - just came out of nowhere!!!! that in itself shows that she was not concentrating at the time.

Well i'm sure she and her family and friends celebrated the end of a terrible ordeal for her - and of course she will never use her phone whilst driving again

the court would have had access to all the facts and unless you can access a full transcript its just pointless speculating.

She was on the phone for almost the entire short journey. She was also wearing just slippers to drive in - not illegal but no way you should be operating a vehicle in slippers or flip flops as it causes accidents. Her brief told her to say the phone was on speakerphone for sure. Absolute farce.

At end of day 12 people heared all the facts not just highlights, its they who found her not guilty its called trial by jury? its not perfect but its been around for 200yrs! good or bad thats justice by the people for the people

A jury of 12, I wondered if they were questioned if they ever used their mobile phones while driving?

It is Al but its far from perfect as we've seen here. The law on using devices whilst driving needs to be changed as this case sends the message that you will not be punished by causing a fatal accident as a result of being distracted by using a phone.
