' MONEY IN FOOTBALL - £20 IS PLENTY '

Thu Feb 12, 2015 7:38 pm

The new Sky TV deal for the Premier League spread over the next three years is costing Sky £5.1bn, 126 games a season will be shown by them which works out at a staggering £11m per live game.

The clubs in the Premier League will continue to have £200k per season to spend on improving the match day experience for their fans that travel to away matches.

With such incredible amounts coming into the game at the top level, although we are unlikely to be part of it, surely the time to reduce ticket prices for fans must be now, if they don't reduce them now, will they ever?

There has been a campaign running for some time called 'Twenty is Plenty'.

The idea is that £20 is the maximum amount teams should charge away fans for attending a game.

Only four current Premier League sides backed plans to charge £20 for away fans and they are Stoke, Southampton, Hull and Newcastle. Hopefully more, if not all, Premier a League clubs back this idea and perhaps then we will see it filter down the pyramid.

£20 for away fans, i think that should be it for home fans aswell. football is becoming an elitist sport, how can anyone expect low income families to attend games when it could be £28-£35 a game, not including food, travel ect.

Supply and demand.....Why should chelsea or man u charge £20.

I am torn. I am a free market capitalist, but also realise football is killing itself and soon a generation will be lost.

I really don't see the need of us setting our season ticket prices so early. In the past it was the free market gamble of premier league football, but next season it may even be league 1. We need to be getting gangs of 14 ~20 year old in the canton for a tenner, get them hooked and reel them in over years. far too many teenagers are with their parents.....

  yes, if it keeps out the owners wanting to skim millions out of clubs year-on-year, I won't cry into my cereals for them

They are having all this money from Sky but the clubs won't bring the season ticket prices down what will happen and it is coming they will be showing live games but the grounds won't be full they will be showing empty seats at every ground not good for there product .then the prices for the packages will go up and people won't by them either
