He is always a player who can be relied upon to look for a pass rather than hoof the ball away. When he has willing runners and options he will, more often than not find a player. He can be excellent with dead ball delivery but by his own admission he is not a great defender.
Why oh why is he played in the number 10 role and expected to chase flick obs etc? When he played deeper in the 2nd half he still went looking for the ball even though none of his team mates provided worthy options or made forward runs
Whitts did not play well tonight by any stretch of the imagination, but he is clearly not comfortable with the idiotic system we are currently playing and I think it's clear most of the other players feel the same. Annis stated in an earlier post that Peltier apologised to fans in the ninian stand - good on him as it must be dreadful receiving pre match instructions from 2 clueless buffoons. Hate to say it but these 2 are helping me cut myself adrift from the club I once loved and whose results effected my whole week. Yes I'm getting older but I seriously don't care any more. I spent a freezing cold evening away from my family for that tripe!!!!! For the first time I'm going to say it ,,,,,Slade out!!!!! Now!!!!!

Whitts and Gunnarson are not bad players, and I agree with what your saying but both are playing poorly. 4-4-2 or any modification of 4-4-2 does not suit them.
We can't continue to pick players in a formation that doesn't suit them

Slade has come in and decided his formation and is shoe horning players in. If he was a decent manager he would look at the players he had and found a system to suit them. Stop making excuses. Earn your money and make those players better! Thats what a good manager does. Even with cost cutting he has better players sat on the bench. Fabio - champions league experience has to be better than the way he is being treated surely?!?!

They may not be bad players but they are not necessarily good either. We cannot just keep picking players on sentiment. We have to look to the future and start believing in our youngsters. Its an old adage which is true..."we will never win anything with Peter Whittingham in the team"

I aint being funny but f*cking hell lads what formation does suit whitts and gunnarson? They are both past it f*cking dreadful all season both of them and need to be dropped for young hungry players. Theyve been dreadful how can you defend that shit.

We all know Whittingham has played best in two positions. Wide out left when he scored a f**k load of goals and as a DM dispensing supply to the wide players, strikers and two midfielders in front of him. It's not the role he's currently playing. Gunnarsson was just destroyed by the Premier League and hasn't been the same player since.
I think the bottom line is that neither player is currently performing. Whatever the reasoning behind it. So if the manager isn't going to change their roles within the team then he needs to swap them out and give other players a chance.

There is more to this......
Two managers managed

to get the most out of Whitts using totally different roles. Slade has no idea what to do with him. Gunnar has been a dilema for a while. He is destructive in midfield, but hasn't got the technical ability to see a pass, so is not a deep lying player. Both don't fit in with a standard 442.
The forum always drops down on these two, but the two wingers whoever they are do not do a job. There isn't an outlet except the pump to KJ. How many crosses did we produce yesterday, out of those 3 (thats all I can remember) how many were within 5 square metre of KJ- 1 !!!!!!
The expectation is higher on Whitts than any other player, because we know he can deliver a pass, but when one or two went wrong yesterday the crowd were on his back...... When blue eyed boy Noone ran down another blind alleys or just hit and hoped a cross how many jeered ??????
I really hoped harris would be the real deal, but he is not....league 1/2 type of player
