' TONIGHTS MEETING AT CCFC '

Tue Feb 10, 2015 1:13 pm

The Cardiff City Supporters Club and Cardiff City Trust are meeting Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo to discuss,
Season tickets/New Badge etc :thumbright:

But the main aim of the Trust with their approx 500 odd members/200 odd house addresses, many over seas is to ask/demand one of them on the Cardiff City FC Board? ? ?

Personally I see this as a total waste of time.

Why because they would have No say at all, as Steve Davies said the other day Steve Borley/Michael Issacs have No say at all, so what will they achieve?

If and I mean if there was anyone who should be Representing our fans, for me it would be Vince Alm from the Supporters Club, but funny enough, it does not even interest him.

We are not Newport County/Swansea City/Merthyr or Wrexham, where the fans have a massive say,due to them owning a large amount of shares in their Club.

All Opinions Welcome :thumbright:

Totally agree with you Luke,I just dont see the point. Would love for some one to explain from the Trust, what they would achieve.without owning a major amount of shares?

The long term aim of CCST , as is the case with all football trusts , is to gain fans` representation on the club board. This is an aim supported by Supporters Direct UEFA and politicians from all main parties. How exactly that is structured in clubs where supporters are only a small minority of shareholders is open to debate but I am entirely sure that it will happen in my time (and I am an old bugger :old: :D ) because of those pressures to impose it on clubs if the don`t volunteer to do it.
CCFC have also stated that they are in favour of having such representation at our club and discussions as to how that can be put in place will undoubtedly take place soon.

As for tonight`s meeting the fan representative issue is not specifically on the agenda (although it might come under "fan engagement and communications"), but the club badge , season ticket strategy and club finances are the other issues due to be discussed.

I think they would be better off trying to get regular dialog with the club and Tan

But it will surely help the club become more transparent? I dont think any of the trust are nieve enough to think they will have any say...

Keith, I totally Support that you all meet up with our club to discuss issues etc :thumbright: :thumbright:

I couldn't agree more. Now there's a first, Annis. Moreover, I also agree that if fans are to be represented on the board it has to be Vince Alm. Certainly no-one from the Trust would have my backing.

I respect Keith and what he brings to the table and having someone of his ilk opening a positive dialogue within the corridors of the CCS could only be of benefit to the club's paying supporters :ayatollah:

However, where a place on the Board is concerned?? Pointless and 100% agree with Forever Blue

Re: ' TONIGHTS MEETING AT CCFC '

I think it would be great. We would find out what goes on at board meetings and the trust member could give his opinion even if he has no power. It may save the odd shit mistake.

Re: ' TONIGHTS MEETING AT CCFC '

Tue Feb 10, 2015 2:58 pm

A place on the board is a great idea as the club would get an idea of what the fans are thinking through the fans rep. Vince elm would be a perfect person for this as he is very fair and level headed it wouldn't matter that the person wouldn't have any real power cause the dialogue with the club would be enough and tbh it's more than we have had in the past

Re: ' TONIGHTS MEETING AT CCFC '

I agree with Fergy1927.
The person elected to the Board could offer his or her opinion and report back to the fans afterwards.
The Board may or may not take that persons opinion on Board but at least it has been offered and would go some way to building bridges between the club and the fans.
Yes, some things would have to remain confidential but if the person reported back to the fans, at least the fans would know it came from a reliable source. If the person nominated to serve on the board put across constructive proposals it would take a very stupid person to dismiss them out of hand.
Any interaction such as this has to be good for the club and the fans.

At least its a voice in there, no power but a voice and opinion is better than nothing

I think it's a great idea. Ok they aren't going to be calling big decisions but that's not what it's for, it's for a consistent and transparent rapport with the Fans. The top dogs call the shots that will always be the case no matter who is representing the fans unless they own a large share. but end of the day this way the trust have their say and persuasion during important meetings.

surely you have to see this as progress in building club and fan relations?

Re: ' TONIGHTS MEETING AT CCFC '

Annis you know my views. You would be the perfect fans rep if the club appointed one. :ayatollah:
Vince would be my second choice but as you say a pointless exercise to be fair.
Regular meetings are a must though and I'd like to see you involved 100%. :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Surely though, that if UEFA and the Government got involved they would be calling for some kind of power for the representative, otherwise what's the point? Until it becomes legislation then surely a fans representative who meets regularly with the Chairman to give our opinions both positive and negative is adequate. All current board members only have any decision making powers, if they have any considerable shares in the club and even then they can be minimal according to how the owner runs the club. I also don't see how these things work when sometimes sensitive information is being discussed or is the supporters board member only allowed into certain meetings, which then leads to more mistrust between the club and the supporters.

Having a supporter on the board gives us an ear at the very least.

Does it though, if this person is going blabbing every two minutes they will soon find information hard to come by. Besides our fans don't agree at the best of times so why does this one person's opinion help anyone. That person will be in an impossible situation.

If I owned the club then I wouldn't want anyone else that wasn't on the board to know my business to be honest.

Re: ' TONIGHTS MEETING AT CCFC '

Wed Feb 11, 2015 11:55 am

This is the usual political nonsense.

The decisions of our club are made thousands of miles away behind closed doors. Its a private business.

I spend a lot more at Tesco's should my mrs have a customer seat on the board ?

We are supporters of a private business, if i am not happy with the product or service I stop going. The ultimate feedback.

Vinnie doesn't need a fan sitting around a table every three months to say that the natives are not happy !!!! He can see that every other week !!!!!

We have power, its up to us if we use it........
