' Cardiff City appoint Kevin Nicholson as under-21 boss following Quinton Fortune exit '

Nicholson will retain his first team matchday duties alongside Russell Slade and Scott Young, while also becoming under-21 team manager

Cardiff City first team coach Kevin Nicholson is to take charge of the club’s under-21 development team following the departure of Quniton Fortune.

Nicholson will retain his first team matchday duties alongside Russell Slade and Scott Young, while also becoming under-21 team manager.

He will work alongside development team coach Nilton Terroso.

It follows the departure of Fortune, who worked with Terroso at under-21 level, has left the club.

Former South African international Fortune joined the club when his former Manchester United team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was manager.

The Bluebirds’ under-21 team won 1-0 at Bristol City on Monday afternoon, Gethyn Hill scoring the winner after 89 minutes.

They are top of the Premier Development League South.

Hill’s winner came from a penalty after Tyler Roche was fouled.

Their next match, when Nicholson will be in charge, is against Charlton Athletic at Cardiff City Stadium next Monday (7pm).

Cardiff City Development: C Horton, J Barnum-Bobb, T James, C Watkins, D Tutonda, T Wharton, B Watkins, A Bell, M Southam, T Roche, G Hill.
