Cardiff City are to seek the opinion of supporters on a series of issues after a survey revealed a number of fans may not renew season tickets despite the club's return to blue.

Only 50 per cent of those who responded to a Cardiff City Supporters' Trust survey said they would be renewing for next season despite the majority of supporters (58 per cent) believing the price of a season ticket was ‘about right.’

Meanwhile, 94 per cent of Trust members who responded described the past 12 months following the Bluebirds as ‘disappointing,’ up from 76 per cent the previous year.

The findings will come as a blow to the club particularly after owner Vincent Tan decided to listen to popular opinion and reverse his rebrand by changing the club’s home shirts from red back to the traditional blue.

The Cardiff City hierarchy said they welcomed the findings from the Trust and will meet with representatives to discuss the issues raised soon. The club is also set to seek the opinion of its season ticket holders to see how things can be improved moving forward.

“Cardiff City welcomes the work undertaken by the Supporters Trust and will discuss their findings in a meeting with supporter group representatives,” said a club spokesman.

“Following our return to traditional colours and the work carried out in reducing 2015/16 Season Ticket prices, we are in the process of finalising the first of a number of supporter inclusive surveys, asking Season Ticket Holders for their views on enhancing the match day experience. We are fully committed to working closely with supporters in the months ahead and see their views as central to our efforts.”

The Cardiff City hierarchy must be aware of the dissatisfaction of fans due to the dire football that is being served up every week. I guess many fans have had enough of going along to watch abysmal performances in a stadium without any atmosphere.

You could argue that the club are partly responsible for taking a gamble and appointing Slade! It could come back to haunt them.

Both the wife and I will be renewing, but I wish wish the club would put the correct facts out.
For us, it's a price increase, yes small but still an increase, fed up of hearing that they have reduced the season ticket prices, they need to say that they have reduced the prices for those that weren't in the 5 year price freeze only

I'll be renewing even though I'm overseas - funny when in the premership the demand for people wanting to borrow while I'm away was huge - this season haven't been able to give it away...

I can't understand why anyone would use 'the dire football' as a reason for not renewing...!! support the club through thick and thin, people have short memories - if you think the football is bad now - i don't know what the f**k you'd have made of the late 80's and most of the 90's :)

Get renewing!!

I got mine the day they went on sale exactly the same as I have for as long as I can remember. I will never understand those who chose not to renew because the team isn't doing well or the football isn't entertaining because my view is you support your team through thick and thin.

At the moment it's thin but that will change hopefully sooner rather than later.

Mon Feb 09, 2015 5:48 pm

I will renew I just don't know where.

Done 4 years in the family stand then this season in 116, in the splash zone !!!!!

Having watched city from either the bob bank or the grandstand I disliked sitting behind the goal. I am planning to sit further back but the prices for U16's in zone 3 or 2 if I go upstairs are extremely off putting. We need a family section, an adult only section in the ninian as well as a standing tolerated section.

With the massive reduction in season tickets surely the club could advise that 117 will be standing, 116 adult only and 112 as family.

Mon Feb 09, 2015 6:46 pm

Even though it doesn't make financial sense for me, as I only get to half the home games,I'm renewing just out of loyalty and the fact the club have had the sense to return to blue :bluescarf:
I would add that I truly believe that the club should seriously look at switching the ends around and getting some sort of atmosphere into the ground, that may actually create a better feeling amongst the support and entice a few more back who have turned their backs as its so sterile down there

Re: Only 50% of Cardiff fans say they are renewing season ti

Mon Feb 09, 2015 6:51 pm

It will be the first season in 25 years I will not be having a season ticket .

Not because of poor football but because of times and days of games .

This season alone I have had to miss 5 home games due to being on weekdays
I also will probably have to miss tomorrow and definatly next Tuesday . Bournemouth in March is also a Tuesday night .
These changes make it better and cheaper to just pay on the day . I know a few people like this who work away during the week .

Tomorrow is a perfect example , Brighton fans have to travel a 450 mile round trip on a freezing tueday night when both clubs have a weekend off this weekend . A lot of Their fans will miss a big game they would normally attend and the same for ours .
Why the game couldn't be moved to Saturday which everybody I'm sure would prefer baffles me .
