Cardiff City are to seek the opinion of supporters on a series of issues after a survey revealed a number of fans may not renew season tickets despite the club's return to blue.
Only 50 per cent of those who responded to a Cardiff City Supporters' Trust survey said they would be renewing for next season despite the majority of supporters (58 per cent) believing the price of a season ticket was ‘about right.’
Meanwhile, 94 per cent of Trust members who responded described the past 12 months following the Bluebirds as ‘disappointing,’ up from 76 per cent the previous year.
The findings will come as a blow to the club particularly after owner Vincent Tan decided to listen to popular opinion and reverse his rebrand by changing the club’s home shirts from red back to the traditional blue.
The Cardiff City hierarchy said they welcomed the findings from the Trust and will meet with representatives to discuss the issues raised soon. The club is also set to seek the opinion of its season ticket holders to see how things can be improved moving forward.
“Cardiff City welcomes the work undertaken by the Supporters Trust and will discuss their findings in a meeting with supporter group representatives,” said a club spokesman.
“Following our return to traditional colours and the work carried out in reducing 2015/16 Season Ticket prices, we are in the process of finalising the first of a number of supporter inclusive surveys, asking Season Ticket Holders for their views on enhancing the match day experience. We are fully committed to working closely with supporters in the months ahead and see their views as central to our efforts.”
