didnt realise he played 13 games for Cardiff in 85/86. (i was only 5 and prob more interested with the trains behind the wall in the bob bank them days).
manager of Geordies till end of season. anyone want him now hes doing his apprenticeship there if they apoint new next season ?
and can anyone remember him playing for Cardiff ? what was he like ?

I saw him play for City and thought he was a hard working full back without being spectacular, a bit like his managerial style I suspect

Signed by Durban in a poor team. Think he was with us for 3 months and was homesick and went back to play for Gateshead.

I was a season ticket holder in those days with my old man. Sat in block c of grand stand just behind directors box. We were awful. Robbie Turner up front. Carver left back. Trying to recall rest of the team.

Those 13 League games were the only ones he ever played in his entire career. Went into non league after that.

Those 13 League games were the only ones he ever played in his entire career. Went into non league after that.
I always find the circle of footballers' lives really interesting. It's easy to forget that most managers and coaching staff have some history or experience in the game and I find it fascinating finding out where they played.

I recall he had to retire from League football due to a bad injury at the age of 20.

If I'm mot mistaken old mutton chops who hangs around outside the stadium on match days helped pay for Brignall.
