Result: Will Keane's penalty gives Sheffield Wednesday a point against Cardiff City
By Charlie Bennett, Sports Mole
Will Keane's second-half penalty has earned Sheffield Wednesday a draw at home to Cardiff City this afternoon.
The Welsh side scored after just seven minutes as the recalled Kenwyne Jones planted a header into the bottom corner, as he latched on to the end of a Scott Malone cross.
Jones and his new strike partner Eoin Doyle almost combined to double the Bluebirds lead shortly after, but Doyle fired wide after Jones neatly flicked the ball to him.
The partnership between the pair was clearly developing nicely, as Jones flicked on a Aron Gunnarsson throw perfectly for Doyle, but, once again, he couldn't find the target.
Wednesday struggled to create many chances in the first half, but they almost equalised through Chris Maguire, who surged forwards towards the box before shooting narrowly wide.
The home side made a quick start to the second half, and they almost levelled as Stevie May crashed a shot against the post.
Cardiff fell back towards their own box in the second period as Wednesday started to threaten, and they should have equalised through Sam Hutchinson, who blasted the ball over the bar when unmarked in the box.
However, they got their goal shortly after as substitute Sergio Bus earned his side a penalty when he was fouled by Malone.
Striker Will Keane smashed the ball home to bring the scores level with just 15 minutes to go.
Both sides pushed for a winner, but neither could create a decent opportunity.

I'll take the draw.
I honestly thought when SW levelled we would lose, and I would have been as sick as a dog.
Bring on Brighton - massive 3 points this one.

Official Sheffield Wednesday Match Report
Will Keane scored his first professional goal as his second half penalty earned the Owls a point against Cardiff.
Former Wednesday loanee Kenwyne Jones gave the visitors an early advantage but the hosts hit back to claim a deserved share of the spoils.
On an emotional afternoon at Hillsborough, Milan Mandaric addressed the crowd ahead of his imminent departure having agreed a deal to sell the club to Dejphon Chansiri.
The outgoing chairman was visibly moved on the pitch but just seven minutes after taking his seat, Wednesday were a goal down.
New recruit Scott Malone swung a deep cross to the far post and Jones headed across Keiren Westwood and into the net.
It was harsh on Wednesday, though, who had started the game well and responded to the setback in a similar fashion.
Kieran Lee went close from distance, so too did Chris Maguire, as the Owls asked all the questions through the first half.
Cardiff broke sporadically and Eoin Doyle brought a flying save from Westwood three minutes before the interval but by and large, it was the home side in the driving seat but the Welshmen had the lead.
That almost changed straight after the restart when Stevie May went charging in on goal and shot past Simon Moore only to see the ball thump the post.
Wednesday continued to press and only desperate defending from Aron Gunnarsson prevented Keane restoring parity on 54 minutes.
Sam Hutchinson then fired over the bar after finding space in the penalty area before Stuart Gray threw new signing Sergiu Bus on from the bench.
And the Romanian was at the centre of the action as Wednesday won a penalty on 75 minutes.
Bus was pushed to the ground by Malone, the referee pointed to the spot and Keane stepped up to fire home from 12 yards.
That gave Wednesday the impetus to push on for a winner, which they came close to achieving when Jose Semedo’s late shot was deflected just over the crossbar.
Lewis McGugan stung Moore’s hands with the clock ticking down but despite being camped in Cardiff’s half for the last ten minutes, the Owls had to settle for the draw.

Kenwyne Jones scored his 13th goal of the season but it wasn't enough for Cardiff City to claim a much-needed three points at Hillsborough.
A new-look Bluebirds team led for more than an hour against a poor Sheffield Wednesday but failed to finish off their hosts who punished them in the end.
Russell Slade’s men were denied by a 75th minute penalty converted by Will Keane in a match that saw wo Cardiff players, Conor McAleny and Eoin Doyle, made their debuts.
McAleny played at the tip of a midfield diamond, while Doyle linked up with the recalled Jones.
Jones scored after seven minutes when he headed in Scott Malone’s cross to give Cardiff a lead they looked like retaining.
But Wednesday equalised with 15 minutes left after the effective Bruno Manga, back in the starting line up, rushed out of defence and missed the ball.
Substitute Sergiu Bus ran through before being shoved to the ground by Matthew Connolly.
Referee Kevin Wright pointed to the spot and Keane converted the penalty, shooting high down the middle as goalkeeper Simon Moore dived.
That is a third successive penalty goal for Wednesday at home and they have still scored only two goals from open play at Hillsborough this season.
City can reflect with some satisfaction on an improved display, albeit against a poor home side.
But the Bluebirds have still only earned one win from their last 10 league games - six points from a possible 30.
They now have successive home matches against Brighton, next Tuesday, and Blackburn, a week later, to earn the victory they need.
Cardiff City: Moore, Peltier (Connolly 67), Morrison, Manga, Malone, O’Keefe, Gunnarsson (capt), Whittingham, Doyle (Revell 65), Jones, McAleny (Noone 82). Subs not used: Fabio, Adeyemi, Harris, Wilson (gk).
Attendance: 22,344.
