2 Up Front Saturday!

Wed Feb 04, 2015 7:24 pm

Ive noticed since doyle has signed lots of people on here are calling for us to go back to 442 saturday and a lot of people calling for doyle and jones to play up front together...

But do you really think thats the best way to go? I mean we have been shocking with 442 and always got dominated in midfield. We changed to 4231 saturday and kept posession much better and was always in the game matching a good derby side imo, my point is do we need to change that and go back to being battered with 442 again? Im thinking maybe doyle up front on his own will be best option? Opinions?

I hope we don't go 4-4-2 but don't agree that we was any better Saturday. We were comfortably beaten and Derby always looked like they could step it up a gear.

I think we either need to play 4-2-3-1 as you said, or 3-5-2 with fabio and Declan John as wing backs

I think had we been against a worse side than derby sat we would have won. You cant argue that we kept the ball better though, i just think if we go back to 442 we will get battered again, and whitts is the main reason for that aswell imo and be honest slade isnt gonna drop whitts i dont think, a 442 with o keefe and adeyemi or gunnar would work better and could possibly work

Could play four up front, we still won't score. could do with a bit more creativity in the team and no doubt Slade will leave the best players on the bench!

You could be right. Its encouroging to see the players thats been brought in but will slade use them now in the right way? Mcaleny is supposed to be really good if you listen to everton fans and id like him to give us a spark of creativity, no1 mentioning him but why would we bother having him on loan to just sit on the bench all season?

We kept the ball better until we went 1 down, then I thought our heads dropped, as did the atmosphere and it turned into an easy game for Derby. We don't have the character to come back fighting if we go a goal down or get pegged back

Definetly shouldn't go 4-4-2 midfield isn't strong enough.

4-1-2-1-2 would be good i think

A 4-4-2 line including Peter Whittingham as one of the two central players will fail. Too soft centred, non competitive, places too much emphasis on the poor b*stard who plays alongside him...
