We seem to be blaming Slade for everything and okay, he's not getting us results this season but transition is key and we're not just transitioning on the pitch but off it as well.
Would you rather:
a) A club in League 2 just about making its way financially with players who aren't massive names but willing to put in a shift proudly for the bluebird on their chest?
or:
b) A club in the Championship with players who can no longer be bothered continuously being kept alive by the investment of Tan whilst Premier League has beens collect ridiculous wage packages?
I think we as a fan base need to get real as well. We cant have it all and I can see the likes of Revell and Doyle doing well under Slade. We just need to give him time to get rid of all the egotistical players in the team which will take time and let his players settle into what he wants.
People cite Swansea as having a philosophy. That philosophy wasn't created in half a season or a season, it became the foundation of their club and grew and reshaped over numerous seasons on their ascent through the divisions. It was tinkered with by managers and eventually Rodgers found the right balance between Martinez's elusive and attacking play and Sousa's cautious style of play.
I have said sack Slade myself in times of frustration post match but realistically, who is going to come in if we keep sacking managers every half a season or so? We're just digging our own grave with that attitude all because we cant be patient. Slade's style might be grim now but that might not be solely because of Slade. It might be that the players who think they know better have little respect for him and want to do their own thing. If that is the case then that is the players fault, not the fault of Slade of whom they should respect from day one.
If those players think they know better and aren't gonna comply then they should get out of the club. We shouldn't be building a club philosophy around what players want but what the club and the manager wants. No player is bigger than the team and if they think they are then they should be sent packing.
