The missing fans, where are you?

Sun Feb 01, 2015 6:42 pm

I seen Annis posted that the ground looked about 17,000 and we had our blue back why had they not returned? I have always maintained that while some have returned and stuck to what they said about us returning to blue the numbers are far out weighed by people who claimed they were staying away because of the colour, but in reality that was just an excuse. These fans have always been about, fair weather or fans that only go to see a winning side, no problem with that as all fans go for different reasons and some have less of a connection than others to a club. What is Surprising is that people are then shocked when all that said they would return don't. A lad said last week that's it if they sell brayford that's me done!! What a terrible excuse.

Success will bring the crowds. A fact of life.

Yes, and conversely failure will lead to a major drop off in numbers.

It has always been that way in the past and no doubt will be the same in the future.

It is as simple as that :bluescarf:

cardiff fans are very fickle, the team isn't doing well so many just stop going and won't renew. the reality is the club needs success to sustain a 20k+ fan base, and the fair weather fans make up about 5,000 of that, and if they don't renew, then we're back down to about 16-17,000.

You're right but I think that applies to fans of most football clubs to be honest.

All this is very true. All through the history of Cardiff City FC, one common denominator stands out, & that's the fact that the paying public of Cardiff & the surrounding areas will Not support a struggling,,,or a poor City team.

From a personal point of view, this is the poorest City side I have seen since we gained promotion to the Championship in 2003.

Changing to red and returning to blue didn't do it for me. NOT employing Pulis had me walking.

It showed that Tan did not have the club's success at heart. He won't even admit now that he was wrong by sacking Slade.

All too late now with Pulis employed. Tan gone or I'll never by another ST. First time in 30 odd years.

How have you got the cheek to ask why I and others don't turn up when you've got an owner who hasn't been to a game since last season, unbelievable.

Don't think you read the post properly, so you don't go because the owner doesn't go?? Baffling

At home in the warm as they have more sense than actually watching a load of shit and it won't be long before thousands more stay at home just look at ground by half time - tells you what's coming ! And you can't blame them it's diabolical football that's being drummed into them

Big fuss made of the return to blue but it's showing now that it's shite football keeping people away, just like I always believed.

There is no so such thing as big fuss - fool we should never of been changed in the beginning - people won't pay to watch consistent shit performances in anything

What a stupid question. It takes more than a simple change back to blue for fans to come back.

Maybe if the team actually played properly and not like absolute shite people would want to go watch and support the team.

Don't use the success comment, because we don't necessarily need success (e.g. promotion) to get the fans back. What we need is good football, good performances, and general signs of improvement and progress.

I've had enough of the f*cking dogshit. Year in year out non stop hoofball. The useless fucks both on the pitch and off need to learn how to play the game properly and give the fans what they want: a good day out. We want goals, good games, and a genuine CARE and sense of PASSION from both players and managers. Cardiff supply none out of those 4 things. What does Cardiff supply however: shit. Dog shit. Horse shit. Name any type of shit and that's what Cardiff supplies week in week out.

Sorry, but I wouldn't even pay a quid to go watch Cardiff now. There's just nothing there, it's all toxic. Slade is the epitomy of absolute dogshit and whilst he's at the club f**k all will change and Cardiff can expect to see around 15k next season if he remains in charge.

I can't afford to go, and I know plenty of others where I live who feel the same, doesn't matter what division we're in, or the colour of the shirt. At the moment, other things have priorities, a proper day out for me to watch us will cost me at least £60, I haven't got that much spare cash unfortunately.

Thirty five pound walk up to watch that shit is the reason people are staying away

There was a big fuss about us returning to blue, it's been the main subject discussed on this board for months.
The missing 1000's would return and everybody would be happy as pigs in shit.
In reality the main reason people are/were not attending is the football on offer which answers the OP question.
Give us fans good entertaining football with players that give it a real go and the product sells itself.
The product ATM is total shite.

I don't think its a silly question. It was said that a change back to blue would result in a full and rocking stadium and season tickets and merch being sold in vast numbers. Quite clearly it was not that simple and people will watch if we are doing well no matter the colour. Obviously there are some exceptions but lots said "I'm not going again while we play in red" when they really mean "I'm not going again until we are doing well on the pitch." The idiots are those that put it down to the red when it was purely due to results.
