Time to stop Whittingham

Sun Feb 01, 2015 10:03 am

Dominating all our set pieces. His corners aren't consistent enough and I'm fed up waiting for the ocassional goal at set pieces.

It's all too predictable and he's definately lost his edge. I now cringe when I see him languidly jogging from one side of the pitch to the other and then either not passing the first man with a corner, or just aimlessly lobbing the ball into the box from a free kick. The chant "he does what he wants" is lost on him a bit now.

Surely amongst a team of peofessional footballers there must be one or two others who could better Whitts at this moment in time. Trouble is they don't get a look in because we blindly accept that he's the best man for the job.

Not any more in my opinion!

When he plays (which unfortunately is every single game) its like playing with only 10 men, or in boxing terms, fighting with one hand tied against your back!

You missed his delivery to Kenwynne Jones against Norwich then?

This is a pointless argument with some of our fans.......They want hard working, get stuck in types !!! Well we are going to get that with Slade.....

Only bit of class came from the pass from Whitts to Ravell who butchered it, but he is a trier.

Yesterday told us a lot. Malky sussed the best way to get Whitts to tick and that was the QB role in a 4141.

The question is do we have enough weapons up front. We have wingers who continually lose the ball and rarely deliver crosses to a hard working non scoring type or a static goal scorer.

O'Keefe hasn't got a gaol scoring record, Gunnar can burst into the box, but is his hert in it. Ademyemi flatters to deceive.

But lets blame Whitts because he is an easy target......

Great ball to Revell yesterday which he shot straight at the keeper.

He has been poor since that season when he scored 25 goals. I honestly think that Joe Ralls would be a better option than Whittingham, as he does the things that Whittingham cannot do, very well. Also, Ralls is a pretty good set piece taker too. We cannot constantly rely on Whitts's set pieces, he has to offer us more from open play, cause he just does not do anything in my opinion. I think Ralls is more capable to create goals from open play than Whitts. I am just fed up of seeing his name in the starting line up every single game, cause you know exactly what type of performance that he is going to produce. The game will pass him by but he may deliver 1 good free kick, that we score from and 1 corner that we hit the post and miss with. But, we lose the game 1-3 as we did not create anything from open play. Do those 2 set pieces justify Peter Whittingham playing every single game???? Don't forget there are some games that he does not do anything or create anything from a set piece or from open play, but even then he still finds a place in the starting line up. He must have it written into his contract that unless he is injured, I'll or not fit, then he starts every game for us. Listen, Whittingham has been a great servant to this club but I think his time is way up and it has been for a few seasons now.

Bloooooobirds.

Good post! I couldnt agree more. Any snippet of useful play is negated by his lack of atleticism, motivation, energy, vision and dynamism!

No I was there but that's my point we're remembering isolated incidents not regular occurences

I did put something similar yesterday . I'm not picking him out blaming it on him like some people think

But I don't see what he brings . The odd long good pass and takes lobb free kicks and puts the corners In

But midfielders these days have to have more abilities than that .

Fed up people still sticking up for him too, he's lost it not consistant enough anymore

Chuck him on the bench and give someone with a bit of fight and passion in the middle .

For me Whitts has no place in a 4-4-2.

But after getting rid of all the non 442 players, Slade decides to go with a 4231.......Couldn't make it up.

I am a big whitts fan, as i am of all talented players, too many want triers but that's all we are going to get, bloody Charlie Oatway's who was the poorest centre midfielder i can remember.

Problem for the club with Whitts is his salary and contract length, he is going nowhere, so we have to accommodate him, but has slade the guile to work out how to eke out of every bit of talent out of the enigma that is Whitts ?????

For me whits had no place in the Cardiff team anymore .

People are saying he does this he does that

I'm thinking he doesn't do this he doesn't do that more negatives than positives you get from him
