and still think this side can make the play offs. Even the most blue blinkered fan must surely accept what a lot of people have been saying for months now, and realise that this has always been a mid table side at best, but with a better chance of being bottom 6 rather than top 6.

Totally disagree , with the squad as it was before the season started , they should have easily been top 6 probably top 2 .
The problem is not only the management but the whole set up .
A decent manager signed in the summer would have got these players to click . At the moment you can see they are disjointed and have lost heart .
Can they make the play offs ? February is a bit kinder on the fixtures , 4/5 wins in February and they will be back in it .
In reality that probably won't happen but we have more than enough even now go stay away from the bottom 6

I think we'll struggle to get more than 7 points in February, and that's probably looking on the bright side. I never believed the hype of us having the best squad. The biggest maybe, but unbalanced and not full of the sort of battlers required for Championship football.

In theory, yes 4or 5 wins would put us right back in it.
Unfortunately, in reality, I can't see us winning 4 or 5 games between now and February 2016 with the team we have now.
Our only hope this year is that we can find 3 teams worse than us in the league. And I'm not sure if there are 3 worse than us.

Whether we've got a realistic chance of making the play offs or not, I cannot understand what people expect Russell Slade to say different!
The other option is to take a ridiculously negative outlook on things, which is not going to help the players!

Was'nt thinking of Slade, more some of the fans on this forum who can't seem to accept that we don't have a team of worldbeaters. It's all very well be an eternal optimist, but sometimes you need to be realistic as well. We have a very average team which would struggle to reach the play offs in Div 1, never mind this league. I think we may just stay up, but will probably be in the middle of the relegation battle for the rest of the season.

This squad was never remotely near play off quality right from the start and, despite Slade's obvious shortcomings, that's not his fault. Malky was the first culprit by not building a sufficiently good squad for the Premier, instead relying on too many average Championship level players

Completely agree, could never understand how some of our fans seriously believed we were almost a certainty for automatic promotion, and nailed on for a play off place. I thought we were mid table material, and right now I would take that because we are heading into a relegation fight with no guarantee of staying up. I think we may just about stay up, but it will be close.

There were still about 3 or 4 posters on here that still backed Slade & kept saying he needs a couple of transfer windows before we should judge ..blah, blah.
They've finally seen the light at long last but I have to laugh when I see them post now moaning about him!
Surely there's nobody about that still backs him or thinks we can go up!?

managers need a bit of time to get their own players in, and get them playing in a particular way. Slade is not and never will be a championship quality manager. He will keep with his lower league tactics, bring in lower league players and if he stays long enough will take us into lower league football. It looked as if he was about to take Orient into the bottom division, and I have never been able to understand appointing a manger who would have been head hunted a long time ago if he had been any good. Working under Tan may be making him look worse than he actually is, but he is nowhere near good enough at this level, and not helped by having Young as his assistant.
