Russell Slade " I'm not under pressure "
Saturday 31st Jan 2015
Russell Slade has denied he is under pressure as Cardiff City slumped to a fourth-straight defeat – and to within seven points of the relegation places.
But he refused to disclose what owner Vincent Tan makes of the Bluebirds' form as fans again made their feelings known at a dismal display that saw Derby ease to a 2-0 win.
Slade's side were booed off the pitch as a Scott Malone own goal and a Chris Martin header gave the Rams the win within the first-half, Rams boss Steven McClaren later admitting his disappointment at not winning by a larger margin.
Yet Slade was adamant he is not concerned by the free-fall into survival worries, nor fans' frustrations with the style of play, while he defended his decision to drop top-scorer Kenwyne Jones.
Still, he did accept his target of reaching the play-offs is becoming unrealistic after picking up just five points from their last nine games.
But when asked if he was feeling the heat, Slade – who walked out of a press conference on Friday – said: “No I'm not. We're all under pressure every day. I have to focus on the team. It's been a difficult period of games for us and we would hope through this period of transition to come out the other side. Who knows, we could put a run together and get some momentum over the coming weeks.”
Asked if he still believed he could reach the top-six, he said: “It's not impossible. It's becoming a little unrealistic with the amount of points we will have to make up. That's not to say we've given up.
“We've played six out of the top seven teams of late and it's shown we're short of that level at this time. There's no doubt about that, they've got top side of us on every single occasion so it shows where we are.”
Slade insisted Tan's thoughts on the matter were between him and the owner after recent telephone conversations between the pair when it was suggested he could not be enamoured with current form.
"I'm not going to comment on my conversations with the owner, that's between me and him," he added.

But Slade was adamant that – despite the crushing loss of form the Bluebirds will not be locked into a fight to avoid a second successive relegation.
Asked whether he was concerned by that scenario, Slade said: “No, not at all. Teams can get into that downward spiral, it can happen, for sure. It's happened to the likes of Wolves in the past. But I don't see it happening we have got.”
Fans do not appear as convinced, with the increasingly direct style clearly adding to the frustration, but Slade suggested he was not bothered by playing attractive football, claiming: “The fans want to see a winning team as I do. It doesn't come down to style if you're winning football matches. Saying that, I thought we kept the ball better than we did in the last game.”
Slade opted to go for the disappointing Alex Revell over Jones despite the Trinidadian's six goals in his last eight games, admitting he could understand fans' surprise but claiming the former's work-rate was more important to his changed set-up.

I expect Vincent Tan to talk random shit everytime there is a journalist in sight, but f*cking hell, I think he may have found a manager that can talk just as much shit as he does.
What chance does our club have with both Tan and Slade at the helm?

'Not under pressure'??
So why does his head look like it is about to explode??
It's either delusion, denial or Peruvian marching powder to blame.
Nice guy but not for me.

I honestly believe him I don't think he is under pressure he is here to do a culling job and by the level of players he is bringing in it looks like he is preparing for top six in div one

What planet is slade on or has he got thick skin im seriousilly thinking of not renewing if he is in charge
Sat Jan 31, 2015 7:34 pm
I feel so sorry for the fucker! He really is a little rabbit caught under the headlights. I genuinely hope this huge mistake he's made in coming here does not ruin his future prospects. Hed probably make a reasonable manager of a Conference side run by a decent owner.
Sat Jan 31, 2015 7:38 pm
He may not be under pressure from the clueless fuckwit who's running the club at the moment.
But he's certainly under pressure from the "customers" who are sick and tired of the product being peddled by him and his coaching staff.

The only run we are on is a relegation one.
The only people in world football who can't see how much Slade is out of his depth is Tan and himself.
Tan has to replace him or his club will be worthless

You have to laugh

,,,but I think your right. He's already shown yesterday that the pressure has got to him, & in another few days he's going to feel like he's in a tin can, 10,000 feet below sea level!

He's completely lost the plot with this statement.
Sat Jan 31, 2015 8:39 pm
He's not under pressure so he says, bloody hell he's under more pressure than a pressure cooker and even a pressure cooker can drum up good results

Whatever drugs they are taking they should share them with the supporters may get a better atmosphere

Since he came in he not done what he said.

One of Slade's purchases Scott Malone showed today he is a league 1 player at best. He kept drifting into the middle alongside the centre halves, leaving any Derby player on his flank unmarked. That's exactly where the two crosses for the goals came from.
Slade out !!!!!
