noone in a diamond

Playing as an attacking midfielder free role number 10 type player, now this infuriates me! He has been shit lately and is it any wonder when he is playing in a postion he cant play, sort it out ffs slade and dont play a formation you havent got the players for

He has got someone to play there, Peter Whittingham. Granted, he is not my favourite player but one of the reasons why we get steamrollered in midfield is because Whittingham is playing too deep and he certainly is not the kind of central midfielder that's going to start chasing lost causes, winning the ball back or make crunching sliding tackles. Now as a Number 10 and playing further up the pitch he could start influencing the game more. He would be much more involved around the oppositions penalty box and then I think he will start to score more and score more goals. Whoever it was that though that Peter Whittingham is a defensively minded central midfielder is off their trolley. I cannot believe for the life of me that good managers like Jones, class managers as Malky and the rest ie Solskjaer and Slade have all put him in that same position. Most of the fans for all of those years knew that he was the weak link but the managers kept on playing him there. Most of these were experienced managers, I just can't work it out. Clueless if you ask me and they say that the fans don't know anything??? For God knows how many years now we have had a powderpuff central midfield. First it was McPhail who looked good in possession but did nothing and always passed the ball back or sideways. We finally get rid of him and since then Whittingham is now our McPhail. Listen Whittingham is never a winger but that one season when he scored 25 goals and had at least 12-15 assists, he was either on the left or right wing, why can't we try that again. Have a rock hard midfield that can run, chase, tackle and move to help other players and then have Whittingham at the far end of the pitch away from the defence. That's it, I'm off.

Bloooooobirds.

PS - We are gonna win 3-1 today. Man of the match, a split between Peltier and O'Keefe.

Geggs you could be right. Whitts can only do a good job for the team in that number 10 role but in a diamond we dont have any width so it wont work imo.

Some good points there. We did have a player ideally suited to the tip of a diamond and that was Daeli!

Daehli, Morrison, Kim could all have done job at the tip of the diamond but it was never tried when we had them.

It all comes down to Slades shite tactics & the fact he's doesn't seem to see things happening in front of him. Le Fondre being played on the wing whilst IMO his best position is as an out & out poacher is another example.

Agree with this, all 3 mentioned would be better there than Noone. I think we may see Harris there today

Noone is wasted at the tip of the diamond,he's not a playmaker. Doesn't have the passing ability or vision.
He's an out and out winger. Let him play his natural game.

shouldn't be in the first 11, let alone a position he is unsuited for

Exactly, but yet again for some reason OGS and Slade couldn't see it. How not???? All the bloody fans could. I feel that this is going to be the position that Daehli will thrive in for his future club(s).

Noone turned into no-one we carried him for most of today, why did RS take off Kadeem Harris when Noone should have gone.
