Foxes set to snare Premier League defensive rock

It has this afternoon emerged that Leicester City are poised to welcome Stoke City defender Robert Huth on loan for the remainder of the season. Cardiff City had made an initial enquiry however the 30-year-old former Chelsea and Middlesborough man was reluctant to drop a division.

The deal still remains unconfirmed, however Telegraph reporter John Percy tweeted the loan move is likely to happen. Leicester City are looking to strengthen their defensive options and the signing of Stoke City’s Huth would be ideal. Having previously played for both Chelsea and Middlesborough, the 6ft 3 centre-back offers bags of experience in the top flight. Cardiff City are extremely unlikely to hijack the move following tentative enquiries earlier in the week.

The former German international has only made 4 appearances for The Potters this season having been marred with injury. However since his move in 2009, Huth has made 149 appearances for Stoke, scoring 13 in the process.
