What Solutions can you think of as to ST holders not turning

Thu Jan 29, 2015 11:24 am

Trying to think up solutions for this, the only thing I can think is possibly. If season ticket holders turn up less than 60% of games, they should either have to pay an extra £20-30 at the end of the season, or they should not be eligible for a season ticket the following season? Any other ideas??

No need for the sarcasm, just thinking up different things.

Difficult one this. At the end of the day whichever way you look at it, we are all customers. Due to work commitments I miss about half a dozen home games a season, but that's the way it goes. Work pays to put a roof over my head, clothes to wear and food on the table, so I cannot get to those games, it's tough shit on me, so my ST doesn't get used for those games.

We need to keep ST holders and if we are not filling the stadium week in week out, I don't see this as an issue.

They have supported the club by handing over a lot of their hard earned cash. It's entirely up to them whether or not they turn up. They are not depriving others of attending, it's not exactly like we have a capacity crowd every home match. Maybe they expect the players to put in the same effort as they had to do to earn the money which they used to pay for their season ticket.

I pay for Sky TV every month, that doesn't mean I have to watch all the crap that they churn out every day.

I agree with the OP in regards to the family stand. Every game that stand is supposed to be sold out and every game the stand is half empty. I think it's unfair for people who wish to take their kids to games and cannot get in the family stand because people have bought a ST to turn up when they can be arsed!!

However I do understand all the other comments that, if you've bought a ST then you have the right to miss games if you want.

I think the OP I put out was very naive in terms of reasons why people miss games, if there are genuine reasons then that's fair enough, that's not something that can be helped, but for e.g. The family stand where it's 1/2 empty on occasions when it's sold out online.

Do we have a system to where you can sell your ticket back to the clubs?

Listen fella I Pay good money for my season ticket to make sure of my same seat with mates every week. Due to work there are occasions when I cant make matches, and not always the unfashionable ones. Last season I missed the Liverpool and Chelsea games. I pay I do what I like.

Return to having a wallet full of tickets as opposed to having a plastic card. People don't like lending out their cards incase they don't get them back in time for the next match.

Fill the stadium by playing good football and winning.

They have paid for a seat, they can turn up when they want. Its not as if its stopping other fans going, we have plenty of seats available.

There's a reason they don't turn up.

The football is well below what could be referred to as entertainment.

My dad is 86, and has had pneumonia, so has missed a few games. Hopefully he'll be back in the Spring, when the weather is a bit better. In the meantime, my niece, who is a Gold member, has upgraded, through the ticket office, and sat in his seat. It costs her about eleven pounds. Seat gets used. Club even gets a few more bob. My niece gets to see a game, legitimately, for about half the price. Everybody happy.

I sometimes miss a game through work. Seat doesn't get used.

STs are not transferable. Either way, we've paid for our seats.

I like the idea of a wad of paper tickets, though :bluescarf: or a book, like BITD.

But this whole debate is a bit of a red herring. Might have been an issue last season, but isn't now. Apart from, possibly, the family stand.

I appreciate the family stand issue but even that is debatable. With so many broken families these days Dads (or mums in some cases if you want to be PC) may only have their children every other weekend or so, unless they are lucky enough to have their children on a match day they are always going to miss some matches.

Also you're not supposed to go on your own without your children.

I know some would suggest buying individual match tickets instead but what if a big cup game came up or you're a regular away traveller and couldn't get a ticket. I'm sure a lot on these boards would then say you should have had a season ticket.

Either way you can't win and as other's pointed out there's plenty of (full price*) seats elsewhere in the ground.

*conspiracy anyone?

It says on the site that you need to call to buy tickets for the family stand. I've got 2 st in the family stand and I've never had any problems this season calling to get extra match day tickets for friends and their kids in the family stand. I also miss about 8 games per season due to work. Funny how last season I easily found takers for my ticket but no one wants it this season

Why not charge the family stand kids more...not just a token price.

If the kids turn up for a certain number of games, say 75%, they get money back at the end of the season, or money off the following season - bringing the price back down to very affordable for kids - as long as they turn up.

Some adults sit in the cheaper seats in the family stand and never bring kids with them. They just register them as a means to sit there.
