proper fullbacks not wing backs

Wed Jan 28, 2015 10:13 pm

To play 4 4 2 you first have to have 4 proper defenders
imo slade now has that .
peltier and mallone are proper full backs unlike brayford , fabio and john ,
lets give them a chance ,
with turner injured I hope we play manga and connelly , these two for me are the most comfortable on the ball .
I hope we play o keefe in front of them , with adeymi and ralls and noone would get one more chance but out wide
up front I would start with revelle and harris , giving harris freedom to go wide or play off revelle.
jones and macheda on the bench with whitts and gunnarson with fabio and morrison and wilson as sub goalie .
this for me looks adaptable and could be seen as 4 4 2 or 4 5 1 or even 4 3 3 , looking foreward to saturday with a bit more optimism :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :thumbup:

Yeah I agree with a lot of that,The full back position is becoming extinct with most teams encouraging them to bomb forward all the time
Wht worries me about peltier is that hes a natural centre back so we may end up with the problems we have when Connolly(who I like) plays out there

Peltier has played rightback most of his career. To drop Whitts would be insane. Look at our goals this season, then look at who's set them up from corners, freekicks and crosses....Whitts. He hasn't been on form, but is a very good player given the right formation. Best long passer in the Championship, without a doubt.

Marshall
Peltier
Turner
Manga
Mallone
O'Keefe
Ralls
Adeyemi
Gunnarsson
Harris
Revell

To drop Whittingham would be a masterstroke. We would gain more possession and create more chances to score. Time to change the same old, same old.

couple of things in response
1= marshall out injured
2= turner out injured
3 whitts when was the last time he made a long pass
4 whitts ffs if hes not playing some one else will take the corners and free kicks (hes not the only one who can take them)
5= whitts his passing stats only look good because there usually 2 yard passes back from where they came from ,putting us under more pressure
6= whitts doesn't tackle doesn't close down doesn't score (even from penaltys lately) backs off allthe time ,and living on past performances ,thanks for the past whitts but you are not good enough any more. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Ralls - Shall i get all the "Ralls is not the answer" threads out

Adeyemi- Runs about a bit, a few good tackles, never seen a pass though

Gunnar - replies to twitter so is brilliant

llan you have to play moore and Connelly as marshall and turner out injured
but the rest of your team is what I would pick aswell :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:
I might concider no one for gunnarrson but no one is needing a rest I think :bluescarf:

Dave, have faith mate! Without the Wittingham problem and with the addition of a new dynamic midfielder, these players can perform an awful lot better. Lets hope O'Keefe cuts the mustard but I'm sure, whatever happens, youll agree we cannot continue with the status quo in midfield. Its dire!
