'It's the worst I've seen at Cardiff City. I'd have walked out!' Russell Slade hammers his Bluebirds after tame cup exit
Reading are in the hat for the fifth round of the FA Cup after coming from behind to beat Cardiff in the worst 45 minutes the manager has seen from his struggling squad
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade slammed his Cardiff City players for the worst 45 minutes of football he has seen at the club after the Bluebirds were dumped out of the FA Cup by Reading.
The Bluebirds took the lead thanks to a first-half header from striker Kenwyne Jones, but collapsed in the second period with goals from Oliver Norwood and a late strike from Wales international Hal Robson-Kanu, ensuring Cardiff exited the competition in the fourth-round.
Slade was not impressed by his team’s performance, particularly after the interval, and admitted that as fans streamed from the stadium late on he would have liked to have joined them.
“There was not much in it in the first period, but in the second-half there was only one team going to push on and win it,” said Slade.
“They put us on the back foot and we found it difficult to string two passes together under that pressure. I’m the manager and I take all the responsibility for players not performing to the levels required. We were devoid of energy and ideas in the second period. It was probably the most disappointing 45 minutes since I’ve been here.
“I would probably have walked out myself if I’d been in the crowd in the second-half.
"It was dire from our point of view. But there will be ups and downs, but this was a bad day for us. It looks like we have taken a step in the wrong direction and I accept that. It’s important as a group now we unite and be strong and face the criticism and deal with it.”
Slade has now called for a response from his players who are now charged with getting their wayward Championship form back on track.
They face a tough challenge next with high-flying Derby the visitors to the Welsh capital next weekend.
And despite John Brayford leaving Slade said he hoped to have Lee Peltier in from Huddersfield to replace him and an unnamed midfield player will also be joining early in the week.
Slade added: “We have to respond to it. Out next game is probably the toughest in the calendar when we entertain Derby next. But we have to respond at our next opportunity. We are close to securing Lee Peltier and we are close to securing a midfield player and we hope that business will be done next week.”

He can say all he wants, but at the end of the day he's responsible. Not good enough.

Russell, if you want to walk out please feel free to do so....and take Young and the rest of the clowns on your staff with you.
Take a leaf out of Adam's book at Norwich.
Let a proper manager take the job on.

The silly b*stard keeps trying the same set up and tactics! Same old same old. He can't have no complaints as its his team that he trains and picks.

Taxi required for Slade ! in one direction. He says the team were rubbish where did the substitutions come from. Turner has to go off if he was injured and it must have been bad for him to go off. I thought Revell was doing ok but he took him off and then why take Kadeem off and bring on Macheda, who's as mobile as a statue. I don't mind us losing but in the second half we were worse than a local parks team.

Face it Russell, for the past 2 months, there has not been one good performance, and only you can be to blame!
Sat Jan 24, 2015 7:34 pm
Same old, same old! When will he ever learn? If you keep on doing what you've always done you'll always get what you always got...simples Russell! Heres betting we get the same old tired lineup for Derby.

I feel sorry for him, just because he's a nice bloke, but he is out of his depth, it makes me sick all the good Managers we missed out on because Tan appointed him.
We are fecked all that is left when he is sacked is Dave Jones and the failed Managers recently sacked.....

I can live with bad performances I can't accept lack of effort. And if the players aren't putting in the effort its down to the manager to do something about it. If this means putting out a bunch ,of hungry youngsters have the balls mr slade to do it. Wcan they do any worse than the gutless mob from the second half today simon moore excepted once again .

Slade says "We shall have our ups and downs", but when are we going to get the UPS as since he came here it has been down all the way. We shall all have to wave him goodbye on Saturday as surely Tan is coming over to correct his mistake yet again!!!!
