Whitts and Gunnarsson

Why pick these two?

When we have the ball it's lumped over their heads and when the opposition have the ball they just by-pass them both with one pass.

May as well play 4-6 and not bother with any midfield - they have absolutely no influence in any game play, except of course for their set piece prowess, Whitts with his free kicks and corners and Gunnar with his long(ish) throws.

Still the first names on the team sheet it appears.

A lot of Cardiff fans talk complete nonsense on here and I do actually feel sorry for slide. However, this post is spot on, central midfield is the exact problem. Are any of these 2 mobile enough to keep moving to offer options and pick the back up in tight spaces? No. Can they pick it up and beat a man to turn defence in to attack? No. Do they press hard? Do they battle? I honestly think ralls and adeyemi are better options.

Perhaps we could just bring on Whitts for corners and free kicks and Gunnarsson just for throw ins in the opposition half?

If Whitts is going to keep his place in the side he has to play the gerrard role from last season. Needs to sit in front of the back 4, give it to him for him to spray it about or play it simple. He simply hasn't got the legs to play centre mid anymore

He has never had the legs to play central midfield. In the role you mention we had wide players who kept their full back and wide midfielders honest, and we sacrificed the second striker to allow him the free role

It worked though

I still believe we need his class in the team, but in a 433 when he is he left side of a 3.

With the current manager flat back 4, 2 centre mids, 2 wides, and 2 strikers he doesn't fit anymore
