' Lee Peltier heading to Cardiff '

Huddersfield Town defender Lee Peltier is expected to join Championship rivals Cardiff City this month, despite only returning to The Terriers in the summer.

The 28-year-old joined from Leeds United in the close season and was made club captain. But it appears that Peltier’s head has been turned at the prospect of a career at the Bluebirds.

The move would signal a reunion with one time manager Russell Slade, whom Peltier played under at Yeovil Town. The reason for the switch is mainly down to the arrival of Chris Powell.

Like Slade at Cardiff, Powell is currently in the process of reshaping Huddersfield’s squad, and Peltier does not appear to feature in his plans. The recent signing of defender David Edgar points Peltier further towards the door.

Russell Slade has emphasised his need to cut the Welsh club’s wage bill to make it sustainable.

“We are shopping in a different area.

“We are going through a time of transition. Our wage bill is not sustainable. The only way forward it to reduce it to a sustainable level.

“The reality is we are in the Championship and we have to have a budget that represents that.”

Even with the impending departure of Peltier, Powell’s focus remains on a new frontman:

“We are being linked with loads of players, and I’ve never known a place like it for speculation to be honest,” he said.

“People think we are unable to sign players we didn’t try for in the first place.

“We have our targets and we will go for them, and hopefully get at least one over the line.”

I thin everyone supports who comes into the club and gets behind them but when they turn out to be flops supporting them is very difficult

You pay your money to watch your team win NOT seeing a load of flops going through the motions

I would have like to see a few welsh players coming in & be proud to wear the top of Cardiff City - I haven't seen pride wearing our shirt for a while
