" WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AT CARDIFF CITY ? "

Russell Slade has been officially in charge of Cardiff City as manager for sixteen games, the first eight games got us a decent return of sixteen points from a possible twenty four. The manager was talking about being in or around the play offs at Christmas time.

First Eight Games Under Slade - 16 points from a possible 24 :

Cardiff City 2 Nott's Forest 1
Cardiff City 3 Ipswich Town 1
Millwall 1 Cardiff City 0
Cardiff City 3 Leeds United 1
Bolton 3 Cardiff City 0
Birmingham 0 Cardiff City 0
Cardiff City 2 Reading 1
Watford 0 Cardiff City 1

The following eight games which started at the beginning of December has seen Cardiff City gain a paltry five points from a possible twenty four. The manager has stated publicly about the lack of atmosphere and the impact the rebrand was having on the team because of the atmosphere. Players have been shipped out for various reasons, fitness levels have been cited as another reason for our failings.

Second Eight Games Under Slade - 5 points from a possible 24 :

Cardiff City 0 Rotherham 0
Bournemouth 5 Cardiff City 3
Cardiff City 2 Brentford 3
Charlton 1 Cardiff City 1
Cardiff City 2 Watford 4
Cardiff City 1 Fulham 0
Norwich City 3 Cardiff City 2
Middlesbrough 2 Cardiff City 1

What is the problem ?

The players we had in the first eight games, the fitness levels, the atmosphere and other matters didn't seem to quite get in the way of us achieving a decent points return but the second eight have been nowhere near what the previous eight were, why?

Is it the players, the coaching, the tactics, the manager or something else ?

What do you think the answer is to why there is such a difference in results the longer the season is going on under Russell Slade?

They knew the cull was coming !!!!!!

Losing mates, moving your family, changing the kids schools, having to move to northern back waters, losing bonuses.

Get the window over, lets see who is still here and the new ones........

Interesting, do you believe the manager is culling or is it the owner telling the manager which ones to get rid of?

I honestly believe every player is looking over his shoulder thinking " I'm i next to go" no matter how hard I try I have a price within this unstable club
Until we become a stable club as in certain players have a " f**k off hands off not for sale at any price " which at the moment we are not I'm afraid it's going to get a lot worse

How far do you believe this problem will take us Allan?

Relegation this season?

What do people expect? This is how you cut costs, get rid of the majority of the squad and rebuild. It's been needed for sometime.

Carl

The first eight games masked the problem of the last eight games

Look at the last three games of the first eight should have lost them all therefore no points

These players have been under performing for well over a year now so happy for clear out, reduce costs so on stable footing and build a team of players that want to play
Impressed so far with revell and Malone so far

My thoughts are the same.

Tan is cutting the outgoings (which I am not against by the way), will take money from sales and other income to reduce our debt to him, will try and get the debt down ahead of a sale of the club.

Could take a couple of years to reduce the debt to an amount which will seem reasonable for a club that is in the (hopefully) championship.

Not disagreeing with the cost cutting Elliott, I am asking why the results have been so different with very much the same players utilised throughout.

Our best performances under Slade, in my opinion, were the games against Nottingham Forest and Ipswich. These were both early games in his tenure before he could influence significantly our style of play. Since then our performances have gradually deteriorated as his influence on the style of play has increased. Many of our squad look as if they haven't a clue what's going on. I'm afraid Slade look totally out of his depth and I've a feeling he knows it.

Revell I am certainly impressed with, Malone has not had the same impact for me but not ruling him out just yet, a clear out is needed to reduce costs.

If the players are not performing for the manager then why not drop those and okay the youngsters we currently have?

Or is the tactics of the manager to blame ?

Yea just realised, my bad I basically scanned the thread before posting. I say give him the season anyway, sacking him now could completely f**k up the season.

Carl,

Tatics and formation also contribute. We are and have been since malky a workman like team so let's set up that way. Four four two leaves us exposed so I would set up 4 5 1 when we not got the ball going into a fluid 4 3 3 when attacking

To make this work you need disciplined players and players that want to do the hard graft and not the glory part.

I see with the signings we are moving this way but not sure we will play this formation

Round pegs in round holes helps

Basically we are starting again.

Out with the old in with the new although there is a long way to go before we have more new than old.

Slade won't play the "better" players so may as well get rid of them. Is this Slade or Tans doing, who knows?

Can't be fun for the old ones although one or two will stay.

Make your feeling know when Tan is here. Slade out that has to happen.

Re: " WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ? "

carl basically i think its many things!!

1 - some players are on too much wages and don't care about the club

2 - the coaching is shit and players can't get on with it, i can imagine slide is old school with training methods as he as been down the lower leagues so long where games are one by dogging and not much football, also young even know w loved him when he played and gave his all it was only last season or two he was coaching port talbot!! so he is nowhere good enough.

3 - players these days need babysitting and need someone to look up too, do you think many of these players listen to slide & young and think ? yes mate you are talking sense and i respect you, no chance as they were last year playing in the perm and now they got two donkeys training them.

4 - the players he is bringing in are used to the old school training he probably applies and will fight for the club which i prefer, in malky's first season we did not play excellent football 50% of the time but the players worked there bollocks of and as fans you respected that, now they just jog about most of the time which pisses me off

5 - as a club we need to start again and bring players to the club which want to give there all, they don't have to be the most gifted but when they put that mighty blue shirt on with our badge soon hopefully they will work there socks off

players like phil stunt we need looked like he just come of the building site but worked his socks off and scored a few from that.

lets get together and unite as a club we are the biggest club in wales and always will be!!!

Get the window sorted, me thinks ..we need a couple of fighters in there to get stuck in !!! We are too soft... Sounds silly looking at next few games, where are the points coming from

Gutless overpaid players that's the problem.

Disagree on one thing Carl, players haven't been shipped out because of various reasons. We've been told some arnt good enough and others are unhappy but there's only one reason why but they can't just say we're on a budget now tan wants out.

The atmosphere won't increase until we start winning games, it's how every club works. If you play bad football and loose people stay away and if your playing good football and winning people turn up buzzing.

I won't go in to the reasons why it's not working I've moaned enough on here lately!

A bit of both I think. Slade wanted to cut the squad down because it was too big but I think he's being told who to cut. Any manager in their right mind wouldn't sell their best players.

Is Vincent Tan really the magnanimous hero some were suggesting following the return to blue ?!?

Possibly , rather than Mama Tan , it was part of this wider scheme to save face ,reduce debts & hence maximise profits when Tan sells up , which frankly can't come quickly enough as far as I'm concerned !

Yes , we have the blue back - buy I haven't seen the badge yet & the football is as dire as it's been ! Is the club being run into the ground as a parting shot ?!

It's not over until the fat Mama sings .......

Managers should never have problems ... They avoid them by finding solutions.

For whatever reason players are going and totally diluted the team.

Do we care really if le fondre goes ? personally I couldn't give a crap.

Do I care If the likes of noone goes then yes ide be pissed

We need an inform striker not a grand national winner from 2010.

Personally and I may get slated but jones needs to sort his fitness out.

Serious issues in defence so I don't blame slade for changing things there.

Pretty much looking forward to fabio playing on the lm I think he will do well after a few games.

Only bad managers have problems. Good managers find solutions
