Cornelius never had a chance. Fans were saying he was a flop while he was injured and hadn't kicked a ball for us.

We should have given him a chance.

He had no pace and a touch like a donkey. Will never make it at the top level. If FC Copenhagen sell him again then what are the chances of them buying him back again next season at a reduced price? Good business for them!

I heard from someone that worked on the stats analysis at the club at the time we had Cornelius that he was a player whose motivation had been seriously impacted by injury. He wasn't keen to put the effort in required for Malky's training after falling behind everyone. I still think he could be decent for someone somewhere but not us unfortunately.

I watched Cornelius' first ever appearance for us away to Forest Green in a friendly. He scored a thumping bullet header from a Kevin McNaughton cross, but I still left that game thinking "I hope he won't be a flop" as I wasn't convinced. He seemed awkward getting about the pitch, awkward in possession of the ball, got dispossessed when failing to hold players off and losing possession. I then went up to Accrington for the cup game and the Accrington fans were chanting "what a waste of money". Cornelius then got injured and it was totally his own fault, a poor first touch gave the Accrington player the chance to challenge for the loose ball, Cornelius just got there first but then got clattered and stretchered off. I remember he hit a wayward shot in the warm up as well which almost took my head off! :laughing6:

Cornelius didn't have much luck with his injuries, I don't think any of us ever got to see him fully fit. If his superb strike away to Palace went in, he may have had the confidence to try things and show us what he could do. But he never looked ready to me, Cornelius is tall, but he still didn't seem to have the physical strength for British football and I never felt he completely had the ball under control when he was in possession because of his awkward looking playing style. After the Sunderland game where he came on for the last 10 minutes, didn't bother closing their defenders down allowing them to walk the ball into our half to start attack after attack to eventually get their lasp gasp equaliser, I did a post saying I never wanted to see him play for us again.

After saying all that, I can sort of understand why we signed him. He had young player of the year in Denmark and he had 8 caps, scoring 1 impressive goal at international level. Everyone at the time we signed him thought he had the attributes to become something special. Unfortunately it didn't happen, it was a gamble bringing in an inexperienced striker for that amount of money and it was a gamble which failed. Hull brought in Shane Long and Nikita Jelavic in comparison, 2 proven Premiership strikers who did the business for them. Cornelius in my opinion is a confidence player who needs to be fully fit to perform. But I think he will only ever be able to perform at a lower level.

He would have been given a chance by fans but the huge fee & alleged weekly wage was hugely prohibitive unless he'd started well.

When he used to warm up in front of the Canton, the safest place was in goal. We should have signed him on loan, with a lower salary increasing if he was a success.

Saw him warming up at the Emirates last season and he was putting everything in the top corner. Not saying that makes him good but after the price we paid for him I think we should have at least loaned him out.

Never saw him play, but if the guy's a donkey why waste your time. In this day and age you're not going to cut it if your game is all about power and your shit technically, especially in the top two divisions which is where you lot have been playing for a good while now.

Given same chance as rudy was by fans! Wonder what happened to him? :laughing6:
