JONES OR REVELL

Wed Jan 21, 2015 5:40 pm

Who would pick as the big man up top?

Revell works harder but jones is our top scorer with 11/12, if he carried on he could end up with best part of 20 goals by the end of the season.

I personally think if jones is scoring he has to start with Harris....

hmmm, its a tough call

I would love you say Revell based on the fact the has someting to prove and to that end will probably battle and work hard for the team.

But

Jones' goals cant be ignored, even though I hate his 'Ive got nothing to prove and im not running for that loose ball' attitude.

I honestly cant decide, very good question.

What about playing them both with Harris and Noone wide supplying the crosses , Two big men in the box ?

People say it doesn't work but to me it can if we play to a structure that can incorporate them both

With Revell being quite mobile for a big man it might be worth a try. Both are more of a goal threat than Le Fondre :ayatollah:

Jones for me, he's a goal scorer simple as... goals win games

But people who watched Jones at Boro said he wasn't interested.

Why bother playing someone like that?

Both, with a wingerr who actually hogs the touch line. are lacking pace on the wings,

Who scored the City goal? It's a no brainer. Jones is the club's top scorer by a mile, Ravell has scored 5 in 20 odd games. Jones has scored 11/12 in a lot less games. He also wins everything in the air.

Yep, pretty simple :bluescarf: We have no other goal scorer at the moment so Jones should be first name on the team sheet until somebody else starts chipping in regularly.

Revell wins everything in the air as well. In fact he averages the second most headers won per game in the whole Championship.

Jones is a 30 minute player. Start with Revell and bring Jones on later. If the game suits and he's got the running left in him keep Revell on as well.

Both up top if we're playing long balls up. Play Whittingham wide left, Noone wide right and have them constantly whipping balls in. Get Gunnarsson and Adeyemi in the middle hopefully latching onto knock downs or whatever they can feed off. They're also both capable breaking up play. I personally think if we're playing this style playing someone like Le Fondre up top is pointless. If it doesn't work then bring Kadeem on second half when the other team has tired a bit.

He most certainly doesn't win everything in the air. I've watched him closely during games to evaluate exactly that point. You'd be shocked if you counted how many headers he does win against those he loses in the challenge, as well as those he can't be bothered to challenge for because the ball is falling a couple of yards away from him.

Untill revell shows that he can score regularly , I don't understand the question.
You want a striker who can score given half a chance and that's what jones does , just being hardworking isnt enough, look at le fondre.

Jones has proved he can score goals but can't last the 90 minutes. Revell, too early to say but should be given a chance to prove himself.

Won't that just mean even more hoof ball? And I agree we are lacking pace wide and through the middle

Jones definitely, when Revell was at Rotherham he scored 3 goals in 25 games I think.
