Fabio in midfield

Wed Jan 21, 2015 4:33 pm

Seeing as we are missing some energy /grit in midfield should we start playing fabio in a central midfield role? He can pass with both feet, has tons of energy and passion and likes to get forward and shoot.

Such a waste to leave him on the bench.

He started out as a defensive midfielder so it's not really

I wouldn't be against this, something like

Marshall

Brayford manga turner Malone

---- Fabio Adeyemi

Pilkington Whitts Harris

----- jones

Once players return

If fabio is still here i guess he will be straight back in the team. If we have to pay him I am sure Slade will play him.......

I'd rather see him wide left

Looks good, Fabio should make up for Pilkingtons lack of pace

Agreed but we seem to be lacking agile midfielders.

Milk seems to turn quicker than Gunnarsson these days, he looks tired.

Tactically, not a bad shout. He can run with the ball and be direct, can get stuck in too. My only worry is he'd get sent off in a more central role as he'd be involved in more play and along with Tom, in that setup, would be responsible for breaking up their surges through the middle.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade set to switch Fabio to midfield for FA Cup clash with Reading

Out-of-favour former Manchester United star could have new role in fourth-round tie at Cardiff City Stadium

Russell Slade is ready to unleash Brazilian ace Fabio in a new midfield role against Reading in the FA Cup this weekend.

Former Manchester United full-back Fabio is struggling to break into Cardiff City’s Championship starting line-up, but Slade believes he could be effective in a more-advanced wide role.

Fabio hasn’t started a match since before Christmas, with Slade believing others make the Bluebirds more solid at the back... even though Cardiff continue to ship goals.

But Fabio is in line to face Reading, with Slade saying: “He likes going forward, taking people on and putting the ball into the penalty area.
“A midfield role for Fabio is something I have been thinking about. That is something we will look at going forward. He has a certain quality to do well in that area.”

Fabio’s future, certainly over the next few weeks, is highly unlikely to be at full-back. Even when new signing Scott Malone was ruled out of the match at Middlesbrough by an ankle injury, Slade opted to go with Matt Connolly on the right and John Brayford left.

Slade is also being strongly linked with a move for Huddersfield Town’s Lee Peltier, which would push Fabio even further down the full-back pecking order.

I'd substitute Fabio for Whittingham. At least we will have 11 men on the field so it'll give us a fighting chance!
