Cardiff City are linked with a move for Huddersfield Town defender Lee Peltier, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Leon Wobschall.

The 28-year-old, who is in his second spell with the Terriers, has fallen down the pecking order at the West Yorkshire side and could be on his way to Cardiff in search of first-team football.

The former Leeds United defender, who can also play in midfield, has made just one start and two substitute appearances since the beginning of November.

Cardiff boss Russell Slade has said he expects more players to be leaving the club in the January transfer window having already parted company with Javi Guerra, Jo Inge Berget, Magnus Wolff Eikrem, Mats Moller Daehli and Juan Cala.

Slade has been backed by former Bluebirds captain Jason Perry in reshaping the squad after a disastrous spell under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Leyton Orient manager has recently brought in striker Alex Revell from Rotherham United and defender Scott Malone from Millwall.

Peltier joined Huddersfield last summer on a three-year deal after being released by Leeds United and was was named club captain by former Town boss Mark Robins.

Robins left the club after just one game into the season and the Terriers turned to Chris Powell, who relieved Peltier of his duties as captain in favour of Mark Hudson just a month into the job.

The former Liverpool trainer has featured 12 times for Huddersfield so far this season.

He began his career at Anfield after progressing through the youth ranks but never made a league appearance and went on to play for Hull City (loan), Yeovil Town, Huddersfield, Leicester City, Leeds and Nottingham Forest (loan).

Cardiff are 13th in the Championship, just 10 points away from the play-off places and face Middlesbrough on Tuesday night at the Riverside Stadium.
