Former Cardiff City striker Jo Inge Berget has joined Swedish champions Malmo and taken a parting shot at his former club in the process.
Tues 20th Jan 2015
The 24-year-old, who had his Bluebirds contract terminated last week, released a statement moments after joining the Swedbank Stadion outfit, which said: "Malmo is a team that plays and does not want to hit long balls.
The statement appears to be a shot at Cardiff, who are seen as one of the more direct teams in the Championship under Russell Slade.
At Norwich on Saturday, former Canaries striker Darren Huckerby took to Twitter to criticise the Bluebirds, claiming they play "Proper lower league stuff."
The former Man City, Newcastle and Leeds star added: "It's all lump it to the big man, long throw ins and dangerous from set plays."
After completing his move to the Swedish side who competed in the Champions League alongside Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Olympiakos this season, Berget, who won three caps for Norway before joining Cardiff, added: "Malmo want to get ahead by keeping the ball on the ground and play an entertaining football.
"That's the kind of football that I advocate."
Malmo sporting director Daniel Andersson said of the former Celtic loanee, signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last January: "Jo Inge Berget is an offensive player who can be used in several different positions.
"He's quick, skilful and contribute with both goals and assists."

I would hardly call that giving anyone the finger. He is simply stating why he´s happy to join Malmö. He hasn´t been in Cardiff since Slade took over, so no reason for him to criticize the current regime.

He's clearly having a dig at our style of play though.

Darren Huckerby is certainly criticising our style of play!! Rightly so, sorry to say.
