" Cardiff City: Boss Russell Slade expects more January departures "
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=144783 :thumbright:

Sunday 18th Jan 2015

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says more players will leave during the January transfer window.

Slade was frustrated after the Bluebirds conceded three goals before half-time in a 3-2 loss at Norwich.

The ex-Leyton Orient boss confirmed he was still looking to recruit, with Cardiff lying 13th in the table.

"We are in a transitional period really with players leaving and me trying to get the right type of players for the football club as well," he said.
"That makes it a bit more complicated as you're trying to find your right team when perhaps you've not got the right players yet and you're still trying to make a few changes."

Cardiff have already parted company with Javi Guerra, Jo Inge Berget, Magnus Wolff Aikrem, Mats Moller Daehli and Juan Cala in January.

In the same period they have signed left-back Scott Malone and striker Alex Revell, who scored on his debut against Norwich.

Revell also had a chance to equalise late in the game but put a header wide of the goal.

Cardiff's other goal against the Canaries also came in the second half from Kadeem Harris, with both coming after "words were said" at half-time when Cardiff trailed 3-0.
"Perhaps I should have done the half-time talk before the game," added Slade.
"We have to defend as a group, as a team, as a unit much much better than that and I felt that some of that in the first half was unacceptable.
"We had a few words at half-time obviously and we got a reaction that we wanted, and then we started to make changes with more pace on up the front and Kadeem's contribution was excellent.
"He gave us what we wanted going forward and Alex Revell I thought ran tirelessly and got himself a goal.
"[But] I'm a frustrated man. It's very, very disappointing that we can't find that consistency in the way that we play."

Well ihope they are
marshall, fabio, whitts ,noone, maynard, macheda, le fondre, kimbo, that lot wont be missed and would reduce our debt by 8 million or so and reduce the wage bill by about 170k a week or 6 milloin a year if you allow for 5 new players coming in on 10k a week :bluescarf: wonder how many people never realised just how much some of our players are actually costing us frightening isnt it but reality im afraid :bluescarf:

And that proves my point on season ticket prices. Get shot of them and pass savings on to fans. No way ill be renewing like a little lemming off a cliff . Drop your prices!!!! 300 for adult and 1 child is ample . Why pay more so players can earn big bucks and not play.

We are in a transitional period at the moment and I think as fans we need to have a bit of patience.

Slade needs to get this transfer window right in terms of bringing players in that suit his philosophy (whatever that may be) and move on players that he considers to have no future at the club. The key thing is progress, come the end of the season we need to be able to look back and see an improvement from where we are now.

We're not going to make the play-offs and to be fair I don't think I want us to if I'm being honest, in our current state we would never survive in the Premier League, we need to use this second half of the season as a building block and lay down foundations for next season.

Is slade the right man ? I've got my doubts but whilst he is here we need to give him a chance. We've got our identity back now it's time to pull together and back the players on the pitch.

I'm feeling quite positive with how things stand. We are back in our beloved blue , looking forward to the new badge ,fans united our stadium is impressive and as we host a resurgent national team that play in red I can even accept the new seats. We will not be relegated, our books are being balanced and a few youngsters coming through.Russell may not be a Morinho but he does what he does with what he has and won't use us as a stepping stone for something bigger. We don't have a clue what goes on behind the scenes or what agenda our manager has to follow. It must be difficult to please the owner ,players and fans and those who say we need a manager to stand up to VT that's not going to happen whilst we are a struggling Championship side making a loss on the accounts. We won't be promoted or relegated this year so let's enjoy the rest of the season stress free and take stock in May.Blooooobirrrds

We need stability and patience but not with Slade I fear.

There is no promising signs in terms of football being played, possession is vital in the current day and we are awful at it.

The style of football is lower league level, this is why Slade has never worked in the Championship.

I think we will continue to struggle under him and next year could be awful.

Normally with a new manager you see signs of good things to come, with Slade all I see is long ball and a non existent midfield.

Problem is Ken Jones and Maynard are on so much money, both over 40k a week, no other champo team will pay them, so I don't think they will leave.

100% the reason Nicky isn't playing is because Tan doesn't want to pay his massive appearance bonus. Heard a rumour Ken was on 10k a goal, anyone know if that's true?

£300 for an adult and 1 child, are you serious?? Some league 2 clubs and most league 1 clubs pay that and more for an adult and 1 child. That is a ludicrous thing to say. I paid £399 just for me last season in the Canton

Wasnt Peter Thorne on something stupid like that

As for other transfers I find it hard getting excited about any signing, dont even worry about player sales as we all know Slade cant manage players anyway.

It's a fact that when Earnie was resigned by MM he was on over 20k per goal bonus, could easily see KJ being somewhere close given his high wages. Isn't KJ on something like 50-60k a week? :|
