Have always been a fan of 4-2-3-1 and I think it would also suit us but I think our full backs would all be better as wing backs, meaning 3-5-2 suits them more.

Gunnarson played as an anchor man, Adeyemi using his energy to get around the field and press, Whitts playing further forward to dictate the play and create things but knowing he had Gunnarson and Adeyemi around to protect him.

Think ALF needs a bit of time on the bench but I wouldn't put any of our strikers ahead of him at the moment. Don't think Jones and Revell will work because neither are likely to run in behind.

All good thoughts. But after loosing Ravel and Daehli the only formation I see with our squad is a 4-5-1 and 4-3-3. Almost identical formations, but slightly more attack minded with the latter. Two biggest concerns Imo is the lack of movement in the team and the tempo moving the ball, and that needs addressing. No doubt Jones being striker in these formations, and wingers need to put a shift on the brake downs. Leaves players like Whittingham and Gunnarsson less exposed. But for all our suggestions we still will go with four, four f*cking two

Big concern with the lack of mobility on top there isn't it? Hard to see how those two can create space and openings together.That Hyland guy is crap, just saying.

I don't think Adeyemi or Gunnarson keep the ball well enough to play as a 2 in a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1

It doesn't matter what formation we play. There is a dry rot throughout the club that will only be sorted by changes from top to bottom. We need a football philosophy, directors who understand the game, a manager who knows what he's doing and players who have the hunger and desire to succeed and who will run through brick walls for a manager they respect.

Right know we have none of the above.

I'd bin the current 4-3-1-2 system we're going with, our midfield looks unbalanced and out of sorts, Noone is not a central attacking midfielder.

Keep us nice and compact in the middle, good work rate up top and two direct wingers out wide as our outlets. Sounds very simple but I think if players are well drilled and know their individual and collective roles then it gives you a platform to work from. At the moment I think we look a bit awkward.

our full backs are wing backs so three central defenders are a must
adeymi and ralls either side of gunnarsson holding
harris down the middle feeding off ravel as he did at Norwich on Saturday
this team would give us more energy and pace
and ive not used any players I said I would sell in another thread

There is nothing really wrong with the formation we have now .

The problem is the way the players implement it during games and that infortunatly is slades fault and is
where we are going wrong .

his way of playing a 4-4-2 is lower league stuff and is too easy to counter when you have higher quality players in this league .

If he can find the right mix and work ethic needed we could be great with a 4-4-2

Malky knew Whitts in a free role took the mick 2 seasons ago, until teams put a player on him. We heed another winger as Noone is shot, but we haven't got one

Unfortunately we havent got sny quality to play with. The best of a bad job woukd be:
