Cardiff City boss Russell Slade confirms Inter Milan winger Tidjane Balde has joined club

Slade had his say on the comings and goings at the club and said David Marshall and his agent have been clear he will stay with the Bluebirds

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has confirmed Inter Milan winger Tidjane Balde has joined club - and says the club may look at extending Racing Genk midfielder Khaleem Hyland's trial.

News of a move for Balde emerged on Thursday evening while Hyland is expected to sign after impressing on trial, though Slade emphasised at his pre-Norwich press conference on Friday that nothing was agreed yet.

Of the move for teenager Balde, Slade said he would stay until the summer, mainly in the under-21 set-up.

He said: "He will be mainly with Nilton Terroso (under-21 development team coach).

"We saw the player two days ago training a little bit, he's young, not very physical, but technical. We get an opportunity to have a look at him."

On Hyland, Slade added: "He's in with us, training at the moment. He's behind a little because he hasn’t been playing.

"We may extend his stay to look at him further with no commitment. He is coming to end of his week-long trial and we may look at extending that, but there is nothing agreed yet."

Slade also took the opportunity to clarify goalkeeper David Marshall's situation, saying he was adamant the Scottish stopper was staying - though he wouldn't feature against Norwich City.

Of Marshall, Slade said: "I have had a chat with David and his agent.

"It's pure speculation and noting else. He is happy at Cardiff City, as settled as anybody and has never expressed any thought of going anywhere.

"Both David and his agent are clear he wants to stay.

"He is not travelling this weekend. It's disappointing. We thought he had a chance. He is a lot better, 70 or 80 per cent better, but his ankle is still causing him a problem in terms of kicking and moving across the box."

Slade admitted there were still as many as four players set to leave as he looks to trim his squad. He said he wanted to add a couple of players but said his squad rebuilding would continue in the summer.

He added: "There are still a few. Maybe 3-4 still to leave departure lounge.

"We knew players had to leave and some have moved on in search of regular football. We are dealing with that situation.

"Jo Inge Berget is in Norway training with club - there's no immediate movement at the moment, but it’s a possible move.

"In an ideal world I would like to bring in a couple more players. We probably need a couple more and then reassess. More work would need to be done in the summer. It’s a process.

"By then we would be in some sort of shape."

Well I'm guessing its with the option to buy at the end if he impresses. One for the future if it works out. Lots of clubs do this.

I suspect the fact City have such a well renowned assistant manager who of course is a decent bloke and City legend was the clincher.
