David Marshall: Cardiff keeper injured, but not leaving - Slade

An ongoing ankle injury has ruled Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall out of the Championship game at former club Norwich City on Saturday.

But Cardiff boss Russell Slade insisted his captain's long-term future remained with the club despite transfer rumours.

"I, wanted to clear that up a little bit," said Slade.
"So I have had a chat with David and also his agent David Manasseh as well - it's pure speculation, no more than that honestly."

Marshall has failed to shrug off the injury that ruled him out of last Saturday's 1-0 victory over Fulham.
Simon Moore will again deputise, having impressed against Fulham.

Scottish number one Marshall has been the subject of transfer speculation during January, but Slade added: "He has assured me that at this stage there was no interest at all and he was happy here."

Cardiff also have a doubt over top scorer Kenwyne Jones, who has a hip problem and will be assessed on Friday.

Slade said he would like to add "a couple" more signings by the end of this month's transfer window - having recruited striker Alex Revell from Rotherham and defender Scott Malone from Millwall.

He also made it clear others will be leaving, with Javi Guerra having gone on loan to Malaga until the end of the season.

Cardiff are planning to allow more time for Inter Milan trialist Tidjane Balde to impress.

They are also considering extending the trial of Genk midfielder Khaleem Hyland.

well, with the club looking to ship out big earners and replace them with players slade thinks can do a similar job on half the money, it seems logical that the club will cash in on marshall, and that this hands off warning is just to increase the transfer fee.

i think he will go personally, and it will be for less money than we could have got last summer.

With RS comments that Fabio is going nowhere, perhaps he is thinking of using him as a winger, great going forward but can't defend for toffee, hence the Man Utd exit!

all he's actually said is that thus far there haven't been any bids and marshall has told him he is happy to stay:

"So I have had a chat with David and also his agent David Manasseh as well - it's pure speculation, no more than that honestly."
"He has assured me that at this stage there was no interest at all and he was happy here."

that does not mean that he will not be going.

I've said it before...Marshall is happy at Cardiff and doesn't want to go! ;)

The one player I hope stays for the long-term
