Thu Jan 15, 2015 9:23 pm
The way this club has done business in the last few years has been nothing short of a joke.

Must be honest I never rated him.but I also wasn't in charge of making a decision on him. Unfortunately malkey or ole was and they f..c.d up. Another bad decision by our past management..endless list of f..k.ups by club..

I would have thought it would be a standard clause in any sale of a player

Cheers Snibs

I thought Rudy was a gentleman and an honest player, but I only rated him Championship standard.
Our CEO'S should be putting sell on clauses on,but then when our CEO'S ask Carl what does a loan signing mean

you know then they should not be a CEO of a football club.

These things do happen, it's not bad business by our club at all. For every rudy, you get ten or more that just disappear or don't kick on in their careers. I liked him as an impact player, was awesome against the scabs that day but come on who could have predicted what happened? Not many I can assure you, he wasn't good enough for a top half championship side let alone premiership. He's has done well, but for people to say bad business's etc absolute nonesense. Easy to sit and say that here and now.

He was great for us. People saying he wasn't are kidding themselves. I was one of his biggest fans and Chuckles shot me down because I had a difference of opinion. Rudy was utilised by Malky in a way that wasn't 100% suited to his game. He always chased things down and tried and he scored some very important goals. He also held the ball up well. He always had very good potential. People just liked using him as a scapegoat during a season in which there wasn't much else to moan about. Our fans generally just love a good old moan. I said Rudy would peak around 28-29 as all strikers of his type do, they're taller players who have a lot of mental education in football to do as well in regard to positioning. At 28-29 I think he'll be doing well in the PL and stand by that statement.

It would be interesting to see the thread when he was sold to go with this one to see the opinion at the time

Fulham paid 11 million for McCormack 4.5 m is just about right lol hull are going down if they are signing the likes of him

"A message to you Rudy" (The Specials):
Good luck!
This is a case of "The one that got away".

We should never have sold Rudy
Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:27 pm
Everyone going on about rudy here like he is lewandawski.. a waste of 4.5 million in my book because no chance he will cut it in the premiership imo

You're kidding yourself if you think he was "great" for us.

Crystal Palace are hoping to beat Hull City to the signing of Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede, sources have told ESPN FC.
Hull were thought to be leading the chase to sign Gestede, but now Palace are planning a late move to hijack the deal.
Palace boss Alan Pardew admitted on Thursday he wanted to sign another striker in this month's transfer window despite the arrival of Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal.
Swansea forward Bafetimbi Gomis was Palace's top target, but Swansea are refusing to sell him after losing Wilfried Bony to Manchester City, forcing Pardew to look elsewhere. And sources said Pardew has now set his sights on Blackburn hit-man Gestede.
The 26-year-old has scored 25 goals in 50 appearances for Rovers since joining initially on loan from Cardiff City in 2013, before making the move permanent in January 2014.
Rovers are reluctant to lose Gestede but will find it hard to resist a sizable offer for the Benin international because of their financial problems, with Palace prepared to pay 4.5 million pounds to land the player.
"Hull City have shown interest [in Gestede]," Rovers boss Gary Bowyer confirmed Thursday.
"There has been interest from several Premier League clubs in Rudy. Does it surprise me? No, it doesn't.
"With all due respect, 12 months ago not many people had heard of Rudy Gestede. Now he's burst on the scene and he's been a great bit of business by us.
"Do we want to sell him? No, not at all. But I am aware of the financial situation and that decision would be out of my hands," he said.

Some amazing expertise on this thread!
So Rudy isn't worth £4.5m? Yes he is because that is what clubs are prepared to pay for him.
So he can't cut it in the PL? Yes he can according to at least 2 PL clubs.
The truth is Cardiff never got the best out of him. He has blossomed at Blackburn and on the radar of top flight clubs now.
All the criticism smacks of sour grapes or an unwillingness to believe that other clubs are capable of nurturing talent.

if he would have faded into non league football this bloke probably would have been saying how he thought he was an average player and he was right all along about it, thats how many football fans work, they are wise with hindsight.
rudy has performed well above the standards he showed here and blackburn are benefitting from that. good luck to rudy i say, and i don't hold any grudges against the club for letting him go.

what sort of logic is that? 2 PL clubs willing to take a calculated risk on him means he will cut it? there have been countless players who haven't managed the step up yet had many PL clubs chasing them. until proven otherwise he is a championship player, unproven at PL level, no matter what clubs show interest in him.
i'm sure steve bruce would be the first to tell you its a punt and you can't be sure that he will cut it in the PL as he hasn't played regularly there. the deal is off anyway.

f**k i remember him at cardiff when he had to have special running training cos he couldnt run properly and was getting injured because of it. Looks like they sorted that problem now lol
Fri Jan 16, 2015 1:59 pm
Always thought it was madness to sell him last season rather than loan him out as they did many other fringe players.
He was always going to be one who would score - he got a few for us -certainly more potent than that waste of cash le Fondre - and was always a handful. A player who undoubtedly had something about him, and was going to get better. You don't need hindsight to state that.
Hope he does well if he goes.
