Cardiff City boss Russell Slade targets three more signings before the January transfer window closes

We understand the Bluebirds are looking to bring in a midfield enforcer, a pacy winger and a creative striker
Fabio, Maynard, Macheda, Guido Burgstaller and Kim Bo-kyung are players who do not appear to figure in Slade’s plans.
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade is planning a triple transfer swoop in the next few days to bring in the players he hopes can send the Bluebirds roaring back to the Premier League.
Slade has already had a busy January, signing the unsung duo of Scott Malone (from Millwall) and Alex Revell (from Rotherham), while also working flat out to shed numbers from his bloated squad.
But he is keen to also capture at least three new key men before the January transfer window closes in his quest to lead Cardiff back towards the Championship play-offs.
Slade won’t reveal who the names of the targets he is going after.
But we understand he wants to bring in:
A bossy midfielder capable of dominating and dictating play at Championship level. This has been a weakness of the team this season, with Peter Whittingham and Aron Gunnarsson often over-stretched and over-run
An experienced winger with pace who can stretch opposition defences and offer directness down the flank
A creative striker capable of competing with Adam Le Fondre for the role next to one of Kenwyne Jones or Revell at centre forward.
The need for a midfield leader to stop the team being dominated in the possession stakes is underlined by Slade’s move to bring in Trinidad international Khaleem Hyland, 25, from Belgian club Genk for a trial spell.
The combative Hyland, who is also attracting interest from Crystal Palace, could prove the player to bring out the best in players like Peter Whittingham and Craig Noone.
Slade rates Noone and has high hopes for young winger Kadeem Harris, who has an abundance of raw pace. But he would still like to have more experience out wide, particularly with Anthony Pilkington ruled out for another month or so.
Jones and Le Fondre are City’s current number one strike pair, although the arrival of 6ft 3ins Revell brings extra competition.
However, Slade wants a proven Championship goalscorer to compete with Le Fondre - someone who can not only find the back of the net, but also create from the 10 role.
That could mean Nicky Maynard and Federico Macheda moving on in the search of regular first team football.
Maynard has made only 11 appearances this season and hasn’t played since November, while Macheda has struggled to make an impact and hasn’t scored in his last eight matches.
A number of players have already left the Bluebirds since Slade took charge - Magnus Eikrem, Etien Velikonja, Mats Daehli and Juan Cala, while striker Javi Guerra is returning to Spanish football on loan with La Liga side Malaga until the end of June.
Jo Inge Berget has finished his loan spell with Celtic and is still under contract with Cardiff, but is training with Norwegian club Honefoss.
It is thought Berget is in talks with Cardiff about a move back to Norway and there will not be a fee involved.
Fabio, Maynard, Macheda, Guido Burgstaller and Kim Bo-kyung are others who do not appear to figure in Slade’s plans.

Allbrighton a good shout.
My personal shouts would be -
Palacios of Stoke as the defensive midfield enforcer - linked to a load of championship teams on loan
Matty Phillips of Qpr as the winger - linked to Wigan on loan today
Johnny Williams as the creative player. loan ended and back at Palace. Brilliant at Ccs this season and a Welsh International

Great if we sign hyland but that wont solve our biggest problem in midfield. We need an attacking midfielder to replace whitts, someone who has got the energy and drive to go box to box in midfield something whitts cannot do

This is assuming slade plays 442 with 2 strikers, if he played a number 10 role or second striker who could link up play from midfield and attack then play whitts by all means, but the problem for me is whitts or our midfielders are always miles away and not far enough up the pitch to link up play and create chances with the strikers. This is a problem that needs to be addressed in our poor midfield imo..

All linked away from their current clubs on loan hence i thought they was pretty realistic. Phillips to Wigan ? surely we can compete with them for players ? Williams just been at Ipswich. Palacios wages subsidized in a loan deal but Kenwynne is currently earning more than him anyhow

Shedding squad is essential as far as I'm concerned, whatever happens this window. The squad is bigger than Man C!!! Biggest in the league?? Common sense tells me that each player is a drain on the resources every week if he isn't playing or competing for a place.
If RS wants his own players in, that's great. He has indicated he wants some players out which is sensible.
I hate seeing pearls like Guerra going but if they aren't in the game-plan, get shot. All the best but this is about club stability.

Me too, he is being wasted at Palace. He should be playing regularly for them in my opinion. I would be absolutely ecstatic if we were to sign him. Also, Lewis McGugan is available from Watford. Matt Phillips would be a cracking signing too, as he is brilliant at Championship level. The only thing though is he should score more goals than he does, as he does have the pace and trickery to get into great positions. I think we should try and sign the young Fulham striker Moussa Dembele, who is not getting enough games for his liking. He has McCormack, Rodallega, Woodrow and Ruiz all above him in the pecking order and he has the potential to be much better than all of those forwards. However, there is no way that Fulham would allow him to leave on a permanent basis, especially to one of their rivals. But, they might allow him to join us on loan for the rest of the season.
Bloooooobirds.
