What are your top five away trips ?

Tue Jan 13, 2015 9:58 pm

Don't expect dates from me, am no stato but if somebody can fill in with the dates then great.

(5) Scunthorpe away 1993 - a promotion party, everybody was dressed up and my first trip away with "the older lads" 8 cans of breaker and over 5,000 and a 3-0 win was the perfect day out.

(4) Wrexham away 1993 - over 4,000 made the trip north in a game which more or less secured promotion after a 2-0 win, the pubs all the way back were rammed with bluebirds celebrating like they had won the fa cup and the noise in the ground that day was deafening.

(3) Fulham away 2013 - close to 4,000 city fans made an incredible noise after a last minute scorcher from Mutch claimed all 3 points in London. Fulham fans stood in disbelief at the noise created. This wasnt the theme away got remainder of season.

(2) Swansea away welsh cup late eighties or 90? - will never forget this and was so close to number one. My first away as a very young lad with my mate and his dad. The terrace opened up and we were in, every single fan be 10 years of age or 60 were singing with so much passion non stop and it was hour to kick off. I was gob smacked! The noise got louder, by kick off we were like sardines and the atmosphere was crackling. If you have never experienced this, sadly you never will. It's not something you can understand unless you were present. I will never ever forget that night, Chris Pike took an age but slotted and sent the fans in to delerium. That night is what secured me to the city for life.

(1) boro away 2008 fa cup quarter final - this trip had the lot, an early rise, steaming and in full song by 10 am. A surreal experience which had me in years at the end. City played boro off the park, we sang were going to Wembley a hundred times and the emotions of watching a club with no success was to much for some. A fantastic and emotional day and a star was born in Rambo.

Have not included any neutral venues, Blackpool aside the other occasions were incredible.

Hope you enjoyed and can add yours.

Stand up for the boys in blue :bluescarf:

Can't argue with ur choices but the best trip EVER for me had to be Standard Liege. Hired a mini-bus from gwr in Cardiff and 15 of us went (only 5 came back !). Can't say to much about what happened out there for "legal" reasons !!! But I will tell u what went on when I picked the bus up and then dropped it off. Me and Evans got the train down to Cardiff and went to gwr. I recognised the guy who worked there from down the city and he clocked me as well. He said Sicey I hope ur not taking this bus to Liege. I said no we are going up to Blackpool for the lights, family break, blah blah blah......Anyway we take the mini-bus back on Friday morning after giving it a good clean/fumigation ! Same guy comes out to check it over and says to me f*cking hell you've done some miles in this and I say yep we went up to the Lake District for a spin. He said are you SURE you didn't take it to Liege? I give him my really honest face and said no I promise. His next line was a classic..... well why is there a G.B. sticker on the back door Andrew??? Ooooops.. he said ta-ra and off we went. Never seen him since...... FTJ !!!

quality trips fella!

My fav was Blackpool away in 2000, basically because it was my first proper away game. 15 yrs old and away with a few older lads for a weekend in Blackpool, trying to get into as many pubs as i could and completely drunk in about 30mins. i think it was 2-2 and not a bad game really.

My other fav was away to stockport county in pre season 07/08 season. My folks and both of there sides of the family are all from the stockport area. My uncle had the armoury pub outside of the train station, so kipped at the pub, good few free beers and a quick 5min walk to the ground!

Agree with that there weren't many bad ones.

PS before any pedants point it out. White Hart Lane!
