" Mixed New Badge idea "

Mixed my new round badge with the original city badge to make a new badge in the middle.. If what Carl says is right that the club are looking at our old badges to make some changes and come up with a new badge.. well they should come up with something like this .. shouldn't they??

I like the one in your avatar Karl, like the one one the right but with the dragon.

We will probably get something quite different though,,,,but as long as there is fans input (like yourself) that's fine by me.

There's 7/8 badges that the club will be looking at within our heritage, not just the one past badge. Bit of a headache to who ever is doing it as they will have to please Tan as well as the fans.

Don't see why we should have a Malaysian symbol, (or any other country's), on the badges. Otherwise, good effort! I'd be happy with them.

Cheers Thomas, that's very kind of you. I'm going to be honest though! I like doing this sort of thing and over the past 20 years I've worked at making products look desirable to the customer. Its not very easy to please everyone. Even with my badge having a blue border, fans say its a rip off Chelsea badge, if it was red i would probably be ripping off Bayern Munich. The issue is what ever the club come up with, it needs to have the fans vote. Otherwise this may go very wrong once again. Blue will be amazing for club sales on the home shirts! I just hope they don't mess it up with a piss poor badge.

They could get this very right!! and break club records with Merchandise sales..

Good effort, would be happy with any of them.

karl have a play with the badge with the dafadil and dragon being replaced with SINCE 1899 and put a red dragon standing up either side of the bluebird as that badge has everything for me
Cardiff city fc
bluebirds
shield shape
large bluebird in the centre
and with 2 dragons either side of the bluebird ( sort of as protection) should appeal to tan
happy days city are blue again

It's my opinion circular is the way forward. Easily replicated on coats, jumpers etc and looks great. No surprise Chelsea done the same

Thomas your opinion is respected but the old (latest I think) shield type is my preferred shape it is also easy to put on jackets caps etc as it has already been done
imo round is more beer matish than any other shape

Circular badges do tend to work with all sorts of merchandise and signage etc. Once you put a shield on their, the badge gets taller and then becomes very large when put on football shirts. its hard to keep a sheild badge looking in proportion when on different size shirts.

Karl, you're designs are excellent.
The club should get you to do the new badge not a design company.
Would you submit your designs to the club?
They seem very popular.

Also, whatever happens we don't want Barrie Mac to be anywhere near the design process after his last effort...!!

Slight redesign on yesterdays Ideas. Going to be looking into a round one tomorrow.

Any shape is a "rip off" of another club's shape though. There aren't many new ones any more and most are based off old heraldry anyway.

The middle one is good.They all are to be fair.But my choice is the middle one.

Karl, any chance you can do something with this badge?



Would look amazing with a bluebird in the middle and blue stripes on the edges. Have the middle big stripe blue to symbolise our FA Cup victory and tradition. Its our core. Have the outer red to symbolise our respect for Tan and the inner one red to symbolise our promotion to the Premier League.

I like the top right one I prefer our old round badges they look better than the shield versions IMO.

Some tidy badges there mate. I think given the choice no one would put a Malaysian flag on there BUT we know tan wants it to represent mayalsia too so regarding that it's prob best one I've seen so far. Maybe you should send it in to the club and see what they say?

We're not going to break records until results pick up IMO, attendances and shirt sales should go up in correlation so if we reach the play offs and start getting attendances in the high 20's again, with a decent kit then who knows!?

I was hesitant with the Malaysian sun and so I showed it without first. But for some reason I believe it will be on the new badge anyways. Have to agree with you on the kit!!

Not so easy as I made it to look like an actual badge and so the font is just made up. I will post it later when I have time. Cheers for the comments. Really appreciated. What software you using?

20 years of practice and countless hours in Photoshop. I drew those stitches each one.

I would create some myself being decent with photoshop but I've heard it doesn't work properly on retina macbook pro's.

I used to have a cracked copy of CS4 on my Mac, but want to keep pirated stuff of my mac, so am using free online software called pixlr.
