David Marshall, of course, has not travelled, but we will make an assessment on Kenwyne Jones. He has had a hip problem, but is close to being available.

That is yet to be decided. Anthony Pilkington isn’t ready yet, but Federico Macheda is back in training and is okay.

Fabio had a slight injury, all recovered and now fit :thumbright: :thumbright:

Alex Revell is waiting for his full debut.
Cardiff City striker Alex Revell believes he has "a lot to prove" at his new club.
Revell joined Cardiff from Rotherham in January, having spent the majority of his career playing lower-league and non-league football.

Cardiff City have injury worries over goalkeeper David Marshall, Anthony Pilkington, Kenwyne Jones and Federico Macheda as they prepare for a crucial run of Championship fixtures over the rest of this month.

" INJURY NEWS "

David Marshall will be out for 3 weeks with an ankle injury.

Pilkington, who has a hamstring injury, won’t play in any of those matches, while Kenwyne Jones and Macheda will all be assessed later this week.

Early thoughts from the Cardiff camp Jones has a chance of being ready for the long trip to Norwich on Saturday, while Macheda is doubtful.

' Norwich City '

Carrow Road

Key facts

Club: Norwich City FC | Opening: 1935 | Capacity: 27,010 seats

History and description

Carrow Road was built in just 82 days during the summer of 1935. In the years before, Norwich played at a ground called “The Nest”, but it had limited capacity and suddenly failed to meet FA safety requirements.

Norwich quickly found a new site though, and in the weeks before the new season built a new stadium. Carrow Road opened on the 31st of August 1935 with a league match between Norwich and West Ham (4-3).

The stadium initially consisted of one covered seating stand and open terraces on earth banking on the other three sides. The ground could hold about 38,000 spectators.

Few changes were made to the stadium until in the 1960s several smaller improvements were made that mainly consisted of increased cover.

Carrow Road recorded its highest attendance in 1963 when 43,984 fans visited an FA Cup match between Norwich and Leicester City.

In the early 1980s, two out of four stands were rebuilt, but due to safety measures and increased seating capacity the overall capacity of the stadium slowly got reduced to about 28,000.

In the early 1990s, Carrow Road got converted into an all-seater, which involved the construction of new stand called The Barclay.

About a decade later, in 2003, the South Stand got replaced by a new stand called the Jarrold Stand. This stand got further extended in 2005 by linking the stand to the Peterborough Stand.

In recent years, Norwich City have tentatively considered further expanding Carrow Road, but have decided that an expansion will only be feasible after the club has played at least three seasons in the Premier League.

Completely overun in the middle of the park. Possession stats will be frightening. 3-0 Norwich.
Midfield is our achilles heel. No link play between defence, midfield, strikers. Need a couple of box to box midfielders, and 1 midfielder that can control / dictate the game. Slade needs to play 4-5-1 in order to compete.

Just glanced at the Norwich City Forum and they seem pretty confident with 2.1 and 3.1 win predictions. They also said this.....

Looks like Pilkington has earned himself a bit of a Welsh "sick note" reputation. Unfortunately he won't be playing on Saturday - fortunately David Marshall and Kenwyne Jones also may not make it.

They highly rate Marshal and are shit scared he will be fit! They were saying he was on form last time they played us.

I think this could be a great game .

Our heads are up after events of the last week or so . They are playing pretty well . We both concede goals brilliantly

I will go for a 3-3 score line and a great game to watch :ayatollah:

Sadly

4 v 0 Norwich.

Think we are 2 midfielders and goal scorer short of a fair team.

Too much pressure will be applied by Norwich to expect to hold out against them for 90mins with no attacking threat and no defensive midfielder.

Come on you boys in blue - hope you prove me wrong :bluescarf:

' NORWICH CITY'S VIEW ON RUSSELL SLADE '

Wednesday 14th Jan 2015

" THE BOSS RUSSELL SLADE "

Russell Slade replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager in October 2014.

His move to south Wales came after over four years at Leyton Orient, who he had established as a force in Sky Bet League One.

Slade’s three-month reign at Cardiff has offered mixed results so far.

“He started off so well at home with a series of early wins, but results tailed off,” he said.

“His critics believe Slade's reading of the game is too simple and coming from Orient many feel he doesn't have enough experience at the right level to handle a club like Cardiff. But he has steadied the ship somewhat after the disappointing tenure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.”

54-year-old Slade was previously a P.E. teacher before joining Notts County as a coach, and it was there where he tasted management for the first time as caretaker in 1994.

He took his first full-time post with Scarborough in 2001, before moving to Grimsby Town in 2004 and then Yeovil Town in 2006.

His success earned him the job at Brighton & Hove Albion in 2009, but he only lasted eight months before re-establishing his credentials with Orient.

Going up @ 4am. Must be mad with our away form this season. Hoping the return to blue has same effect on players as it has on the fans. I think tho a Norwich dominated 1-1. Hope I'm wrong tho and we bring home the points. :bluescarf:

Norwich vs Cardiff - Is Carrow Road the worst away trip of the lot for long-suffering Bluebirds fans?
Jan 15, 2015

By Steve Tucker

Cardiff City face the daunting trip east to Norwich City on Saturday at a Carrow Road ground that's hardly been a happy hunting ground down the years

Cardiff City suffer defeat at Norwich in 2009Cardiff City are used to suffering dejection on the Carrow Road pitch
Never, in the field of football conflict, have so many, travelled so far, for so little.

OK, maybe evoking the spirit of Winston Churchill is over doing things just a touch, but Cardiff City’s trip to play Norwich at Carrow Road this weekend will awaken something in Bluebirds supporters and not all of it nice.

Of course, the first thing that will awaken them is an alarm clock at 5am and if it comes following a night of debauchery, so be it.

The trip itself, of course, seems interminable. Five non-stop hours in the unlikely event the M4, M25 and M11 are all completely traffic free.

And the trouble is when you get there as a Cardiff City supporter, although the Norfolk welcome maybe warm and the pasties touched by the hand of Delia herself, the pickings for the Bluebirds have proved rather slim down the years.

In truth things have not been so bad for Cardiff at the home of the Canaries in recent seasons, although they have not been that great either. Last time the two teams met at Carrow Road back in October 2013, Bluebirds fans made the 600-mile round trip to witness a 0-0 draw.

There have been a lot of draws recently, including a 1-1 in January 2011 which saw Jon ‘The Beast’ Parkin, on his Cardiff debut, smash home a screamer, a sentence you don’t see very often outside of a police report.

There have been other amazing moments mind. Anyone remember Luigi Glombard playing a brilliant through-ball to put Robert Earnshaw in on goal one year? Fantastic, the only trouble was ‘Earnie’ was playing for Norwich at the time.

Back in September 2008 the Bluebirds actually won 2-1 at Carrow Road thanks to goals from Roger Johnson and one from Peter Whittingham. It almost made the trip worthwhile. Almost.

That though was only Cardiff’s second ever win at Norwich in 25 attempts with the other coming way back in April 1971. If you were at that game, in which the Bluebirds also triumphed 2-1, congratulations or commiserations.

Watch: The Bluebirds pick up a rare Carrow Road win in 1971

It is indeed hard to work out which is the more appropriate.

And to Cardiff fans travelling this weekend, safe travels, good luck and fear not, you will be back in time for Match of the Day albeit the repeat at 7am on Sunday morning.
