Debt to equity

Sun Jan 11, 2015 2:28 pm

I am not an accountant, but we are going to make a massive profit this season and if we were a debt free club we would have to pay a fair chunk to Her Majesties Revenue.

Would it be prudent for the club to pay down Vinnies debt notes quicker to ensure we don't make a profit ?

Corporation Tax doesn't work like that mate.

Anyway the club has huge historic losses to carry forward netting of any future profits. It'll be a long time before City get a Corporation Tax bill

If Fabio and Marshall go this window then FFP won't be an issue

Won't it help the group if we continue with the loans and make a loss.

I think that's the problem, if any business is losing money you don't take your cash from somewhere else to pay it off, you continue at a loss.....

The issue with debt is one of stability. Share capital cannot be recovered or removed, whereas debts can be recovered through the courts.

As the chairman said the other day, his advice to Tan would be to not capitalise until all matters are resolved around other debts.
