Bookies suspend betting on Marshall joining Everton.

Several bookmakers are suspending betting on Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall joining Everton this month.

The Scotland international has been a stand out performer for the Bluebirds and almost kept them in the Premier League last season, and it will take a bid of around £6m to secure his services.

Joel Robles has grown in confidence and stature since taking over from injured Tim Howard, but Everton boss Roberto Martinez is said to want more competent back up than youth keeper Russell Griffiths, who has been on the bench lately.

If Marshall joins Everton, it raises the potential that Tim Howard could leave to join an MLS franchise in the summer.

I would sell him moore is good enough and then we can invest the 6 million to get a quality striker and attacking midfielder in

Whether or not Moore is good enough remains to be seen.

I'm not sure Tan would give all of the money to Slade to spend and quite honestly, I'm not sure I'd want him to.

How many League 1 journeymen could he buy for £6 million?

Gonna be hard losing him, but had to happen some time. It's his career at the end of the day! Time for Moore to show what he's made of.

Don't see the issue, boy deserves to be at the above level. Very good back up who deserves his chance. Well get a good fee and we need to not be in a position where we can't sign players next jan.

Fair play to Marshall, he gave us half a season to see how it would go, we are very doubtful to make it anywhere near the top 6.

Not sure a lot of our newer fans are used to this happening, but as we all know its inevitable now we are trying to be a "normal" championship side...

Another player 'injured' then who we're selling.

Sell him for 6m and buy Westwood for 1m,

if Marshall himself wants this move, then we shouldn't stand in his way. As for Slade, he's brought in two players so far, both from the Championship, so he isn't only looking at league one players, like some on here keep saying.

The deal for Marshall was done mid December and Fabio's departure around about the 20th Dec, Kenwynne's departure hit an obstacle around the time of Fabio's but am led to believe that one is back on so long as Slade brings in the next two players he is after! :o and I don't think it is a secret that a youngster from Chelsea and one of Slade's ex players at Orient are due to come in. There is only one problem and that is that the sale of 3 players have to fund the 4 coming in, including their wages over the time of their contracts, which I am led to believe is over a 24 month period to get back into the prem. :ayatollah:

Do you mean Tan ???

Great return for him, invest £100 Million and get £6 million back lol, it's not like the old days, if not reinvested in players then a tiny percentage off the debt,.......

Well, at least it'll help keep us out of the RED, eh? ;)

Good luck to Marshall IF this is true, but rest assured that he didn't ask for a move and both he and his family are more than happy in Cardiff ;)

£6 million for a great shot stopper, who unfortunately can't kick, doesn't dominate his penalty area consistently enough and £2 million for a defender who can't defend, is great business in my book! :D

Didn't slade give a hands off stateent today or yesterday?
either way, Though I wouldn't kick him out, I think Moore will be able to step up to number 1if he keeps up yesterdays performance (and improves with confidence and experience)

Yeah let him go he's done well here. I'd love to work out how much money has come back into the club in the last few months. Surely our income will cover wages soon at the rate the big earners have gone?

Roberto Martinez denies David Marshall rumours after Cardiff goalkeeper is linked with a move to Everton
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard picked up an injury on Boxing Day
He will be out until February and Everton are looking for a new goalkeeper
Cardiff shot-stopper David Marshall has been linked with the Merseysiders
Martinez has played down rumours over Marshall, while also emphasising that neither Samuel Eto'o nor Seamus Coleman will leave Goodison Park

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is busy looking for a new goalkeeper but has played down talk linking him with Cardiff's David Marshall - and emphasised that neither Samuel Eto'o nor Seamus Coleman are about to leave Goodison Park.
Martinez has wanted to bring in a shot-stopper since first-choice Tim Howard picked up a calf injury on Boxing Day that is set to rule him out until well into February.
Reports have suggested the manager is interested in Marshall, but when asked on Monday if there was anything in the stories about the Scotland international - who missed Cardiff's match at the weekend due to an injury of his own - potentially joining Everton, Martinez said: 'No - nothing at all.'

The Spaniard did, however, confirm he had made some enquiries about goalkeepers this month, adding: 'It is something we have done for a while now, but nothing has been conclusive or done in a way that we can announce any names.
'I'm not interested in bringing in a short-term goalkeeper - we'll look at the options, but if we bring in anyone, it has to be someone who can stay with us for the long term.
'We are going to explore that avenue and if we find the right personality, we'll act on it.'
With regard to potential outgoings from Everton in the current transfer window, there has been speculation that striker Eto'o could move to Italian side Sampdoria and full-back Coleman make a switch to Manchester United.
Speaking at his press conference to preview Tuesday's FA Cup third-round replay at West Ham, Martinez also dismissed those suggestions, insisting there would be no 'big sales' made by the Merseysiders this month.
