Cardiff City back in blue: What the world's media said about Bluebirds history being made

Sunday Jan 11, 2015

By Gareth Rogers

Cardiff City fans around the world rejoiced as their team ran out in blue at home for the first time since May 2012 and the world's media were delighted for them.

Cardiff City are back in blue :bluescarf:

It's been the story of the week in Wales and it's captured the imagination of the football world but how did the media cover yesterday's historic game?

Guardian :bluescarf:
Cardiff City returned to their blue home kit and ended a five-game run without a league win by beating Fulham 1-0. The Bluebirds’ second-highest home attendance of the season, 22,515, was achieved 24 hours after the club’s owner, Vincent Tan, backed down over his change of team colours. The goal came in the 14th minute, when Sean Morrison’s header beat Marcus Bettinelli.

In their Good Luck Watch column, they added:

"Cardiff returned to their blue shirts, previously considered too unlucky to trust in home games by Vincent Tan, and duly ended a five-game run without a win."

Fox Sports - USA :bluescarf:
Needless to say, that their consultation session ended with the resolution to make the “Bluebirds” play in blue again.

The red kit, meanwhile, will remain as the team’s alternate but perhaps buoyed by the change, Cardiff City beat Fulham, 1-0.

So, how long until the Cardiff City faithful come up with a wonderful song about Mrs. Tan?

Get West London :bluescarf:
Fulham failed to spoil the party as Cardiff returned to their famous blue kit and duly ended a five-game run without a Championship win.

Pundit Arena - Ireland :bluescarf:
The Bluebirds played in their recognisable blue home kit today against Fulham in their Championship clash, something which should have never been a cause for news in the first place.

Today the Bluebirds beat Fulham 1-0 but that is not the only result which will be on the fans’ minds as they head home from today’s clash. They have been given a huge part of their club’s identity back as the Bluebirds return to their rightful colours once again.

BBC Sport :bluescarf:
Cardiff marked their return to their traditional blue kit by beating Fulham at a jubilant Cardiff City Stadium.

The return to blue - two-and-a-half years after Malaysian owner Vincent Tan controversially changed their home strip to red to increase their international appeal in Asia - inspired a stirring atmosphere at Cardiff City Stadium, unrecognisable from the discontent of recent fixtures.

MailOnline :bluescarf:
The Bluebirds played in front of their second highest home attendance of the season just 24 hours after the decision by club owner Vincent Tan to finally back down over his controversial change of team colours.

It's great that we are back in blue, of that there can be no doubt... :bluescarf:

However, you will now see a different City, with an owner who now will have no ambition to achieve.

I do not believe Tan will leave us totally in the shit, but he will now recover as much cash as he can and will then sell at the least
loss he can.
In fairness to him we can't blame him for this. Perhaps he believed he had the support for the rebrand prior to his large investment. He now understands we need to be Blue. This, however is not for him ,so he has rightly now returned us to blue. I believe he will now stop all investment in the club, and will recover as much a he can before selling us at what will obviously be a big loss to him.,
At the end of the day he saved us from admin, for which I thank him, but I feel now he will take us no further which is fine by me.He can not afford to damage his reputation which is why we won't be left totally stranded .
So, Thank you mr Tan, and goodbye......eventually........

:bluescarf: :bluescarf:

What do the rest of you think?

If we are to lose the high earners, is that such a bad thing?

They may be more talented at times, but I'd much rather see a team out there who fight for that shirt. Early signs are that Malone and Revell put in a great deal of effort, and that's the sort of player I'd rather see.

I agree Ned but every high earner that goes will be blamed on Russel Slade. He's already getting the blame for Daehli and this will continue.

Anyone who thinks he wants rid of our best players are off their heads. He'll be getting forced to shift players and not to not pick certain players due to appearance money etc.

Spot on :thumbright:

I expect orders have come from above to cut the wage bill, and to improve the squad while finishing the window having made more than we've spent on transfer fees and wages.
