Malone and Revell

Sat Jan 10, 2015 6:13 pm

Both did well on their debuts today. Malone struggled at the start and settled in well. Revell was really good chasing a few lost causes and some good passing interplay with the other forwards. Not perfect but better. Just my opinion tho.

Totally agree. Malone looks a solid LB. Revell hardly lost a header.

After 10 mins i thought WTF have we bought !!!! But Malone imroved as the game went on.

Revell looked OK, ALF has lost whatever he has a striker

Agree maybe Feruz will replace him soon?

Malone hasn't got anything Fabio of John haven't. For me there were many more important improvements to be made than left back.

Revell showed really good promise and even with the little we saw of him today I already prefer him to Jones. He won more headers second half than Jones has in 3 matches recently and he's much more willing to get his arse in gear.

Both had decent starts so hopefully there's more to come.

I like the look of Malone

You can see what Revell offers - just need Le Fondre to get a few "proper" goals to boost his confidence and as a partnership it may come off

Also need some creativity in midfield so we can score some goals other than from set plays - any striker would struggle in this side right now

Re: Malone and Revell

both did well, revell had a couple of knockdowns but le fondre was struggling

Thought Malone looked nervy to start but I was quite impressed with him. Looks solid enough at back and seems to want to go forward... He'll be fine

Revell for me had a typical lower league attitude. Chase everything, win every header and tackle. Gotto be honest think he led line well and again he will do well here imo

Revell looked better than Jones in the air

Both done well. Decent debuts, but felt Revell will not b presence , touch , control etc as kenwyn

Liked the look of Malone (as a player) but couldn't help noticing he already uses the same Barber as Annis! :laughing6:

Revell will take more time to settle as a striker, so we'll wait and see ;)

I thought his touches were better than Jones, had 1 dodgy touch in the box but any other balls played into him he did well, kept the ball and played the ball to someone else. Some of his lay offs were excellent

That's the view I take. Jones is clumsy, he often lets the ball run away from him, he doesn't look interested most of the time and for a big lump he really doesn't win all his headers. If he did we wouldn't keep lumping our high balls at Le Fondre.

Despite his apparent lack of goals the new lad looks half decent compared to Kenwyne

I do like Kenwyne, but most of the time he doesn't look interested. I don't expect him to chase down defenders constantly but there's times he doesn't move if the ball is 5 yards away. I think Revell will start with a new striker, Jones and ALF on the bench with Macheda and Maynard leaving

Yes agree. But only 1 problem with the quote u have alf and Jones on bench (2 strikers) Slade only ever has 1 :laughing6: :laughing5:

That's why I should be manager, Slade out

I honesly think Revell and ALF will work out. Both full of running and hard work Noone and possibly Harris on the wings. Couple of weeks things could start to click. Fingers crossed.

Well I'm only judging it off this game and when we played him, he won every header possible with accuracy. Against us he was a handful from goal kicks he stood behind Turner ran forward and flicked them on. Out of the two games I've watched him he's been better than Jones.

Hard to disagree with that to be fair, only thing with Jones is he scores goals and a decent rate

Revell worked hard and Malone looks pacey and worked hard.
I think our squad has been lacking pace for quite a while.
Decent debuts.

The strict policy of the keeper kicking it long every time ought to be varied, even if just to disrupt the opposition. on a few occasions Malone was free and unmarked and shouting for the ball, but the keeper had strict instructions to welly it - and defend from the oppositions half.

Yes agree malone was right in front of me 1st half and calling for quick release 3 times and never came. The 1 time he had 30m to run into :o

Jones won nearly every ball yesterday, even tracked back to win some defensive headers
