Played Like Fiddles

Mehmet Dalman played a blinder last night (and so did VT I reckon).

last night
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=152886

On reflection, last night's meeting was masterfully orchestrated to allow VT to restore our identity without losing face. It seems to me that a decision had all but been taken beforehand; all that was needed was for the invited supporters to sound the right notes.

Mehmet conducted the orchestra wonderfully in a beautifully harmonised symphony. All the speakers (including me without realising it at the time) were encouraged to produce the perfect tune fit for an Emperor to enjoy.

Just one player sounded some bum notes. Gwyn Davies, trying to get Michael Isaacs and Steve Borley to bolster his own flawed "red or dead" rhetoric in a desperate bid to justify himself and then having the audacity to suggest that to match VT's commitment, City fans should buy 20,000 STs in exchange for a promise to return our identity. This soloist was very discordant and very badly received but Mehmet the master conductor didn't allow this one bum performance to spoil his orchestral manoeuvres.

Yes, we were played like fiddles last night but hopefully, today will bring an announcement that will be music to the ears of all City fans.

Well played all (bar one). :bluescarf:

I'm sure they had the power to make a return to blue before the meeting if it all went well. Which it did :bluescarf:

Correct.

However, we too had a few violinists who played a blinder in the game last night.
We shouldn't underestimate the diplomacy
OF our fans in that room last night.

Proud to be a Cardiff City Fan

Spot on. I'm tired of fighting the same old fight. I won't forget what happened but if we return to blue let's look forward for our own sakes.

Have to agree buddy this meeting came about by the lack of season ticket renewals and expect a statement from Tan reluctantly accepting a change next season providing the fan can show their commitment to the club this season.

Everybody who was there and speaking in my opinion played beautifully. Both (most of) the fans AND the city staff..

Just two dischordant parts, Gwyn... god knows why he said what he did
The MP who for a sheepish moment said we'd put a malaysian flag on the kit... wtf?!

other than those two odd parts everything went smoothly. The respectful demeanor of our fans played a BIG part so well done to all who spoke eloquently and without malice

Ends justify the mean, no one really knew what they were walking into yesterday but did really well regardless and got the result regardless.

Who cares, we know its all to build up the story behind the hopeful return to blue. People need to enjoy it not pick holes in everything.

Actually didn't take much for him to return us back really.

No-one turned up to a sh*t FA Cup 3rd Round tie, and people banded around the fact they "probably won't" renew next year and bobs your uncle

This is the point I made last night, in the thread "have we had the wool pulled over our eyes".

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=152855

we have all been played like fiddles.

Tan makes huge decisions, is a marathon ahead of any of us. But when those decisions get made public, by that time, we all believe its what we have asked for. the investment, the blue back, the now not having to convert debt.

lets go back two years, £40m in debt (more like £20m as Sam would accept £10m) and playing in blue.

two years down the line and we are now seemingly in the same position as then, but have given the green light for Tan to spend £120m in the clubs name and now we cannot deny we owe it after backing down on the deal he knew we were going to do all along.

The decision to go back to blue was made long ago, it had nothing to do with last night. I even posted it a few months back after a chat with a local councillor who knows Tan well.

Is that relevant then? it was the least enjoyable season most have witnessed in decades.

If this decision was based on the meeting last night... how come the FA have already approved it?

Re: Played Like Fiddles

I really couldn't give two flying fooks whether we've been played like fiddles or not.

The reality of the situation is simple. Tan's in it not for CCFC but for himself. Not sure why it took him this long to reverse his decision as you can't tell me he hasn't been aware of the slight lack of interest of being red the past couple of years - I mean it's been on the news and everything!?!?

Anyway he makes money with us renewing tickets and buying merchandise. The fans will renew as we're now back in Blue and the merchandise will more than likely start flying off the shelves again.

Bugger the debt for the time being. It was there before (all be it smaller) and will be there for a while yet until he sorts out Isaacs, Sam etc....

Baby steps. Contrived or not Tan has made his first correct decision in a long while and I'm sure the ££££ will be sorted out in due course.

I just hope the players for once put on a performance the atmostphere and crowd can enjoy as it is going to be bouncing down the ground tomorrow! :bluescarf:

Not in the slightest. People will moan at anything and everything - once & just for once ignore the debt. I'm sure you can do it if you really try.

Ok, its like this.

You are struggling to pay your mortgage, so I come along and say I will pay your repayments for you and will buy you cars and holidays and all sorts of goodies.... but I want to paint Nazi signs all over the house. Then as a sign of goodwill anything you owe me I will write off.

you agree.

I rack up as much debt as humanly possible, but of course going on these lavish holidays with you. Expose you to a swastika laden house for as long as possible, you get ridiculed, abused and embarrassed by the appearance of your home and finally come to me and say "I want the house colour back".

I say "ok I will comply with your wishes".

Everything is the same as before except I have had the time of my life and you owe me a shite load of money, the sort of money that will ruin your life trying to pay back. yet you are so happy your house is back to normal you couldn't care less, and cant see the trouble you are now in.

This was planned long ago. and the fan opinion a complete farce, in Tans statement he is already thanking the FA for granting the kit change. what did it this morning did they? rubbish.
