have we had the wool pulled over our eyes?

Fri Jan 09, 2015 4:25 am

Great news today reading about our colours and badge, I'm over the moon.

But I started to think a little deeper. There has been a lot of talk on here about how clever and cunning Tan is. Just how clever and cunning I wonder?

Did he do this as his get out of jail free card if it all went tits up? He has now found himself back where he started with £150m owed to him. He has now decided to give our colours back and has a perfect excuse to not do debt to equity as we didn't stick to our end of the bargain.

He has an uncanny knack to making huge decisions and then making it seem as if it was us that decided it.

He leaked the debt and plans early, knowing the shock and reaction it would cause... he then withdrew the accompanying carrot with some red or dead rhetoric, and before you know it, it was him complying with our wishes to go ahead with it.

He promised debt to equity as part of the deal, put it off for as long as possible, we demanded blue back and now it seems, again, like he is complying with us and won't have to keep up.his end of the bargain seemingly at our request.

He is a clever, clever man. I am in no doubt these plans are made well in advance. He is not just a step ahead of us, he is a marathon ahead of us.

Great that we are back in blue, but at the end of the day,we are where we're when he took over - we just now allowed him to rack up £150m of debt and now we owe it to him. All our doing of course, and technically, he is right.

That should read as "rebrand plans" not "debt and plans".

Spellchecker gone haywire.

Tan isn't doing this out of the goodness of his heart, there will be something of benefit for him.. And what you said, I believe, will be exactly right. I will be shocked if he ever turns debt to equity

Good post. It's been on my mind also.

Tan considers that supporters have gone back on their 'agreement' to rebrand to red which was in exchange for his investment and eventual debt to equity. In his Christmas Day statement he referred to us as not being honourable because of this.

With the loss of premiership income, Tan will not want to convert. I also suspect he will return to blue but withdraw debt to equity commitment as he considers that supporters have backtracked first from the rebrand acceptance.

I think your spot on. But, it's not quite the same as before. We had loads of debtors before none of which could shut is down individually. Tan could end the club with one simple demand. But would stand to loose a lot of money as I'm not sure how he would then get his money back...

Turning to shares only made sense for him if he floated us. That's not gonna happen unless we are in the prem. I cannot guess at what tans next move is but don't think the debt is like before and don't think tan is planning on pulling the plug. Just remember he is successful, as are his businesses

He will only use this against us imo. What ever goes wrong now will be our fault. Im just waiting for him to start spouting some shit.

I wont believe anything till it happens.

Agreed, I still believe he will stick by us and try to get us running on an even keel.
Time heals and time will tell I suppose.

We've had cynicism drilled into us and I don't blame anyone for feeling that way. We all know he's not doing this for our benefit. There's a motive behind it. Even if it is just to take some weight off his own shoulders. I certainly think he's trying to regain favour. Whether that's because he's failing to pull off what he wanted to do or if he has something else planned. Not sure I care right now. Just enjoying the prospect of returning to blue.

We are nowhere near where we were before he came in Roathie  The majority of supporters have accepted that the club will carry significant debt, in fact these days, all top clubs do. That debt is owed to one investor not to all sorts of businesses or shareholders or HMRC who have the power to pull the plug at any time. The massive issue here to anyone who supports Cardiff is that we know that we can make massive strides forward on the field with the unified support once more and off the field commercially with supporters committing to the club through season ticket sales and purchasing club products. We now have a superb Premiership stadium that holds 33000, which is up there with the medium to big clubs in the country, which we know we can fill when Premiership football is delivered and we are playing back in Blue. Let's hope its once more time to utter those words "YOU JACK BASTARDS, WE'RE COMING FOR YOU" :bluescarf:

So its not just me then.

I cant help but take a step back. we are essentially now rejoicing in the fact we have our colours back, completely oblivious in the moment, that we now owe a madman £150m with no obligation anymore to write it off.

He reminds me of my parents as a kid. Made me do what they want, but make me think it was my idea and that I have won and had my own way.

We owed it before he turned us back.
Still, I'm not worrying over something that may never happen.
Although some will still try to stir shite though. :D  :bluescarf:

No we didn't, he promised debt to equity if we were red.

With him turning us back that deal is now broken.

its not "shite stirring" its a factual assessment of the situation we were in and the situation we are now in.

If he didn't plan this way in advance to last night, then how come the football league have already approved the kit change? it takes more than from 9am today to midday today.
