From WalesOnline

We will hear from Mehmet Dalman in more detail soon. During the meeting he said the current situation at the club cannot continue and insisted there must be unity going forward.

After fans made their views clear, he said: "I hear you. I didn't expect you to say anything else. We must draw a line and move forward."

8.30pm
We have two videos with Mehmet Dalman and much, much more detail and reaction coming up.

8.16pm
A number of supporters spoke out during the meeting, speaking passionately about why a return to blue as so important with many insisting Tan could make himself a club hero by giving them their wish.

8.14pm
Dalman also moved to reassure supporters over Tan's long-term commitment to the Bluebirds, telling them the Malaysian billionaire would never walk away and leave the club in the lurch.

8.11pm
In terms of finance, Dalman also addressed fans' queries over why Tan is yet to convert millions loaned to the club into equity.

He insisted it was not currently possible, explaining the club needed to get rid of certain liabilities first, one of which is to Langston.

He asked fans to be patient and said they will be kept informed of developments.

8.08pm
During the meeting, Dalman called four separate votes:

Fans unanimously voted in favour of a blue home kit; red away kit; and prominent Bluebird badge
Supporters were split on whether the red dragon should be incorporated into any new club crest

8.07pm
Chief executive Ken Choo praised fans at the meeting and said the level of respect shown towards Tan by supporters in attendance could be a significant factor in his decision.

Cardiff City ‘considering’ returning to blue home kit
BY SAM ROURKE ⋅ JANUARY 8, 2015 ⋅

Cardiff City are considering returning to playing in a blue home kit instead of a red one, after a consultation with the fans, reports Sky Sports News.

There was a widespread negative response from Cardiff City fans after club owner Vincent Tan changed the club’s home kit from blue to red in 2012.

“I think Vincent will give this a great deal of consideration,” said Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman to BBC Sport.

Tan was not present at the consultation, but Dalman said he would be reporting the views of the meeting to him, and the board.

“He [Tan] will listen and he will consider. Vincent Tan saved the club when it needed saving. He will never leave this club in the lurch,” Dalman added.
“This was a very good evening for Cardiff City.

“It’s very clear what came out of the meeting . . . There was a strong feeling that the club should return to blue, but there was also an understanding that Vincent likes red and that should be respected.”

The attendances at the Cardiff City Stadium have significantly suffered ever since the club’s home kit was changed to red, even more so after the club’s relegation to the Championship last season,

“I think there’s going to be something on offer,” said David Craig, vice chair of the Cardiff City Supporters Trust to BBC Sport.

“Otherwise why call the meeting unless there is an intention to get something constructive out of it?

“The obvious issue is the one of rebranding,”

The Bluebirds currently sit in 12th position in the Sky Bet Championship, in what has been an inconsistent season for Russell Slade’s team.

A change in colour of the home kit could go a long way in helping revitalise the team, and help propel them up the Championship table, and possibly aid a potential promotion push.

Watch: The moment buoyant Cardiff City fans emerge from meeting as club consider return to blue

Cardiff City fans are hoping for a return to their traditional colours after it was revealed at a meeting with the club on Thursday night that Vincent Tan will take a decision at a board meeting on Friday

Cardiff City fans emerged from tonight's 'consultative' meeting with the club in high spirits - after it was revealed owner Vincent Tan would take a decision on a mooted return to blue at a board meeting on Friday.

Many supporters have campaigned for months - even years - for a return since the club adopted red as its main playing colours back in the summer of 2012.

On Monday the club called a meeting to consult with fans at the Cardiff City Stadium.

That took place this evening, with more than 70 representatives of supporters groups, local government, stakeholders, travel groups, messageboards and campaign groups in attendance.

Among those first to emerge was Sian Branson who has helped coordinate efforts to restore the club's history and identity as founder of the campaign group Bluebirds Unite.

Had a phone call off a close friend who I go to games with and said he spoke to a journalist he know for a few years who spoke to Dalman. Going to hold my hands up to Dalman, said that he had the idea for this meeting since Reading home and it took time to organise, apparently there was a few who didn't get to go to the meeting due to the amount wanted to attend. This led to a few arguments but Dalman wanted a proper meeting where the club made it official and not 'behind closed doors'.

Fans at a meeting on Thursday unanimously voted in favour of a blue kit
Tan is set to consider the change at a board meeting on Friday

Cardiff City will discuss a proposed return to blue at a board meeting on Friday.
Owner Vincent Tan has been at the heart of Cardiff's controversial rebrand from blue to red in 2012 with the Malaysian businessman believing the colour would bring good fortune.
Tan told Sky Sports as recently as Christmas Day that 'Cardiff will stay red' and that he would take no notice of protests planned by supporters' groups against the re-branding and the threat of thousands of season tickets not being renewed.

However, Tan called a meeting at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday where club officials consulted a cross-section of fans.
Tan was not present but chairman Mehmet Dalman said: 'It was great, a very balanced and very professional meeting,
'It was time to bridge the gap with our supporters. 'I think Vincent will give this a great deal of consideration.
'It's very clear what came out of the meeting. There was a strong feeling that the club should return to blue, but there was also an understanding that Vincent likes red and that should be respected.
'He [Tan] will listen and he will consider. Vincent Tan saved the club when it needed saving. He will never leave this club in the lurch,' Dalman added. 'This was a very good evening for Cardiff City.'
Around 70 people were in attendance and speakers included fans, councillors and MPs and business leaders.
Fans unanimously voted for a blue home kit and the return of a prominent bluebird badge. They were also happy to accept a red away kit.

CEO Ken Choo said the respect shown to Tan at the meeting could be a significant factor in any decision to revert to blue and Dalman suggested the inclusion of a red dragon on any new Bluebird badge would be a respectful gesture to Tan.
Cardiff supporters' groups hailed the positive atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium meeting and welcomed the possibility that the club's traditional colours could soon be restored.
Supporters' Trust chairman Tim Hartley said: 'We were really glad that Mehmet called the meeting and there was a great cross-section of people there, representing not just the fans and their representatives but also the business community in Cardiff, a sponsor, an MP and a councillor.
'It was a unanimous vote - and Mehmet called for the vote - on the blue and everyone said we need to return to blue to bring back unity to this club.
'We are hoping that the board meeting will actually decide to tell Vincent Tan that, 'We've had an experiment, you tried it and it didn't work.'
'There's unanimity to go back to blue for the benefit of this club.
'The business case is there, the community case is there and we will say, 'The supporters will follow you and we will be united behind the club if you return to blue with the bluebird on the crest.'

Cardiff consider change back from red to blue as board meeting is called to avoid more protests

Cardiff City are set to hold a board meeting on Friday to discuss the possibility of returning the club's colours to blue.

Controversial owner Vincent Tan has been at the heart of Cardiff's rebrand to red , which occurred back in 2012, but called a meeting earlier today.

A cross-section of fans attended a meeting with club officials and although Tan was not present, it is thought there was something of a breakthrough. The Malaysian will join Friday's meeting by video link.

Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman said: "I think Vincent will give this a great deal of consideration. This was a very good evening for Cardiff City.

"He will listen and he will consider. Vincent Tan saved the club when it needed saving. He will never leave this club in the lurch.
"It's very clear what came out of the meeting. There was a strong feeling that the club should return to blue, but there was also an understanding that Vincent likes red and that should be respected."

Cardiff, who maintained their Bluebirds nickname, changed to red shirts ahead of their unsuccessful Premier League campaign last season.

The club's relegation has coincided with a dramatic fall in attendances as just 4194 fans turned up for last weekend's FA Cup win over Colchester, with many staging a planned protest against Tan.

Chairman of the clubs Supporters' Trust, Tim Hartley, hoped the clear message given had hit home with the board members.
He told BBC Sport: "There was unanimity in the room for a return to blue, and the clubs' directors and the chairman Mehmet Dalman heard that.

"People are not buying red merchandise, people are not buying red shirts. People are not turning up for games because they don't like the fact that we're not playing in blue.

"If we can get a commitment by Saturday then I can tell you this game against Fulham will be packed to the rafters with people chanting the name of Vincent Tan."

Welsh side Cardiff City could once again be coloured blue, two and a half years after owner Vincent Tan changed the club's crest and kit to red.

The club, nicknamed the Bluebirds, won promotion to the English Premier League following the change but last season's relegation sees them once again play in the second-tier Championship.

Vincent Tan, Cardiff's Malaysian billionaire owner, this week organised a meeting between fans and will now consider a return to the historic blue colours.

"I think Vincent will give this a great deal of consideration," Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman said.

"He will listen and consider. Vincent Tan saved the club when it needed saving. He will never leave this club in the lurch.

"It was very clear that this audience wants to unite with Vincent Tan. It's very clear. And if that means that we have to reconsider the colour and the badge then you know we must.

"Only a strong character like Vincent can call for a forum like this, and I think he will be very touched by what took place tonight."

While the success of Tan's original decision to change from blue to red was masked by Premier League attendances, a stint back in the Championship suggests it was short-lived.

Sitting 12th on the table, nine points from the playoff positions which could result in a top-flight return, crowds and public support have dwindled.

"The feeling we got was they were in listening mode, not only that that they agreed with us in our analysis," Tim Hartley, chairman of the Cardiff City Supporters' Trust, said.

"People are not buying red merchandise, people are not buying red shirts. People are not turning up for games because they don’t like the fact that we're not playing in blue.

"So with a bit of luck and a bit of common sense, we can put the past behind us and move forwards together as the Bluebirds for the sake of Cardiff City Football Club."

Dalman and the board will join a video chat with Tan on Friday to discuss the potential change.

Of course never say never and its not over until the fat lady sings.

I cannot see this NOT happening. I think the chairman had the order from Tan to return the blue PROVIDING our reception was respectful. The audience last night gave that respect and I believe that installed confidence in Dalman to go public. He must have been more delighted than anyone last night.

Of course the decision is Tan and that is how it must be portrayed. To be honest this is normal practice so yes expect a return to blue and a big well done to those that went last night they did us all proud.
